%20Coming%20home%20for%20supper,%20leaving%20again%20and%20not%20having%20to%20come%20back%20until%20%22the%20street%20lights%20came%20on.%22%20Yeah,%20that's%20how%20the%20world%20was%20in%20my%20small%20town%20back%20then.%20I'm%20pretty%20sure%20it%20wouldn't%20be%20that%20way%20in%20the%20world%20we%20live%20in%20today,%20sadly.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20one%20of%20the%20things%20I%20remember%20more%20than%20any%20is%20my%20mom%20making%20her%20old%20fashion%20Strawberry%20Shortcake,%20over...and%20over...and%20over...and%20over%20again.%20It%20was%20always%20(and%20still%20is)%20my%20dad's%20favorite%20and%20we%20ate%20as%20much%20of%20it%20as%20possible%20during%20those%20warm%20summer%20months.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow,%20if%20you%20ask%20my%20dad,%20who%20learned%20from%20his%20dad,%20me%20or%20my%20son,%20there%20is%20one%20special%20addition%20to%20mom's%20shortcake%20that%20is%20a%20must.%20See,%20once%20mom%20serves%20it%20up,%20dripping%20in%20those%20sweet,%20delicious%20berries,%20we%20take%20ice%20cold%20milk%20and%20pour%20down%20over%20the%20top.%20Hey,%20don't%20knock%20it%20til%20you%20try%20it.%20I%20know%20many%20who%20eat%20ice%20cream%20on%20theirs,%20and%20when%20it%20melts....kinda%20the%20same%20idea.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhy%20do%20we%20do%20this?%20Simple.%20My%20grandpa%20started%20to%20years%20ago.%20See,%20mom's%20shortcake%20recipe%20came%20from%20her%20mother%20in%20law.%20And%20when%20Grammy%20made%20it,%20Popeye%20(that's%20what%20we%20called%20our%20grandpa)%20couldn't%20resist.%20And%20he%20decided%20he%20could%20eat%20more%20of%20it,%20if%20he%20ate%20it%20all%20day,%20not%20just%20after%20supper.%20So,%20he%20declared%20%22If%20I%20pour%20milk%20on%20it,%20I%20can%20eat%20it%20for%20breakfast.%22%20And%20history%20was%20made.%20A%20legacy%20that%20has%20been%20passed%20down%20for%203%20generations.%20Oh,%20we%20also%20do%20the%20same%20thing%20with%20apple%20dumplings...for%20the%20same%20reason!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20NO%20bake%20sweet%20treat%20takes%20me%20back%20those%20childhood%20summers.%20I%20have%20all%20the%20yummy%20things%20from%20a%20bowl%20of%20mom's%20shortcake,%20milk%20included,%20in%20one%20bite.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20have%20to%20take%20a%20dish%20to%20a%20cookout%20or%20family%20get%20together,%20here%20is%20your%20inspiration.%20I%20guarantee%20it%20will%20be%20a%20huge%20hit!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20large%20bowl%20whisk%20together%20pudding%20mix%20and%20milk.%20Fold%20in%20Cool%20Whip.%20Add%20a%20few%20drops%20of%20food%20coloring%20to%20get%20desired%20pink%20color.%20Add%20berries%20and%20cake.%20Mix%20until%20combined.%20Garnish%20with%20extra%20berries.%20Chill%20at%20least%20an%20hour%20before%20serving.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
