,%20I%20have%20posted%20more%20often.%20I%20found%20that%20I%20had%2049%20posts%20as%20of%20last%20week%20and%20now%20am%20all%20motivated%20to%20make%20it%20at%20least%2052%20for%202013.%20So%20here's%20another%20food%20post%20for%20you.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%22Kalasida%20anna%22%20or%20%22bhath%22%20or%20mixed%20rice%20is%20a%20must%20for%20any%20special%20occasion%20in%20a%20Kannadiga%20household.%20White%20rice%20tossed%20with%20spices,%20spice%20powders%20and/or%20vegetables.%20Vangibhath%20is%20the%20better%20known%20kalasida%20anna.%20This%20version%20of%20chitranna%20is%20the%20simplest%20form%20of%20mixed%20rice%20where%20rice%20is%20tossed%20in%20a%20tadka%20and%20mixed%20with%20lemon%20juice.%20Another%20version%20of%20this%20rice%20involves%20a%20ground%20paste%20made%20with%20coconut%20and%20other%20ingredients.%20Lime,%20lemon,%20citron%20and%20mango%20are%20the%20various%20sour%20ingredients%20used%20in%20this%20rice.%20Another%20version%20called%20%22Kayi%20Sasive%20Chitranna%22%20is%20made%20with%20a%20paste%20of%20coconut%20and%20mustard%20seeds.%20I've%20posted%20that%20recipe%20here%20for%20my%20article%20on%20Mysore%20cuisine%20on%20Sailu's%20Food.%20When%20it's%20called%20chitranna,%20it%20is%20the%20lemon%20version%20by%20default.%20The%20traditional%20version%20is%20always%20without%20onions%20and%20cilantro%20but%20they%20are%20optional%20and%20taste%20great%20with%20too.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E8-10%20curry%20leaves%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ea%20few%20pinches%20of%20asafoetida%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20using%20freshly%20made%20rice,%20spread%20on%20a%20plate%20and%20let%20cool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20pan,%20heat%20oil.%20Add%20mustard%20seeds%20and%20allow%20them%20to%20splutter.%20Add%20chana%20dal%20and%20cashewnuts%20(or%20peanuts)%20and%20fry%20for%2030%20seconds.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20urad%20dal%20and%20asafoetida%20and%20fry%20another%2030%20seconds.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETime%20for%20green%20chilies,%20curry%20leaves%20and%20turmeric.%20Add%20and%20fry%20another%2030%20seconds.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESwitch%20off%20stove%20and%20let%20cool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20cool,%20mix%20in%20the%20rice%20along%20with%20lemon%20juice,%20coconut%20gratings%20and%20salt%20to%20taste.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServe%20at%20room%20temperature.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
