%20tasting%20the%20experience%20of%20cooking%20for%20300%20for%20the%20very%201st%20time!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20sous%20chef%20and%20I%20were%20fired%20up%20for%20this%20challenge%20for%20weeks,%20but%20alas%20at%20the%2011th%20hour,%20Brian%20was%20hit%20with%20a%20nasty%20cold%20and%20banned%20from%20getting%20anywhere%20near%20my%20food.%20But%20as%20they%20say,%20%E2%80%9CThe%20show%20must%20go%20on%E2%80%9D,%20so%20I%20chopped,%20diced,%20sauteed,%20simmered,%20baked%E2%80%A6and%20called%20in%20for%20reinforcements!%20My%20awesome%20baby%20brother,%20along%20with%203%20lovely%20ladies,%20came%20through%20on%20my%20last%20minute%20request,%20%20driving%20in%20from%20New%20Jersey%20to%20carry%20my%20dishes%20to%20Brooklyn,%20then%20working%20furiously%20behind%20the%20counter%20as%20I%20fed%20300%20hungry%20chocoholics%20and%20presented%20my%20creation%20(with%20a%20very%20shaky%20hand)%20to%20the%20judges.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20to%20cut%20all%20the%20suspense%E2%80%A6dum%20dum%20DUM%E2%80%A6I%20did%20not%20end%20up%20winning%20(insert%20your%20%E2%80%9Cawwws%E2%80%9D%20here).%20%20But%20to%20be%2085%25%20honest,%20win/loss%20does%20not%20matter%20%20I%20saw%20this%20mainly%20as%20a%20fun%20opportunity%20to%20push%20my%20limits%20with%20a%20challenge.%20I%20was%20actually%20more%20upset%20that%20my%20partner/sous%20chef%20was%20not%20there%20to%20lose%20(I%20mean%20%E2%80%9Cexperience%E2%80%9D)%20with%20me!%20%20Nonetheless,%20I%20had%20tons%20of%20great%20friends%20who%20came%20to%20cheer%20me%20on,%20and%20many%20wonderful%20strangers%20stopping%20by%20for%202nds%20(and%203rds!)%20and%20telling%20me%20how%20much%20they%20enjoy%20my%20dish.%20%20I%20think%20I%20had%20some%20executional%20issues%20with%20the%20dish,%20but%20I%E2%80%99m%20just%20getting%20warmed%20up%20here;%20you%20can%20be%20sure%20that%20I%E2%80%99ll%20be%20back%20with%20my%20newly%20acquired%20experience%20and%20pearls%20of%20wisdom!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20promise%20you%20a%20full%20recap%20with%20pics%20of%20all%20the%20delicious%20decadent%20dishes,%20but%20to%20tide%20you%20over%20I%20present%20you%20the%20recipe%20for%20my%20entry:%20%E2%80%9CCornfed%20Chocolate%20Chili%20Casserole%E2%80%9C!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMe%20basking%20in%20all%20the%20chocolate%20excitement.%20PS%20that%20%22vegetarian%22%20text%20was%20added%20last%20minute%20when%20people%20were%20passing%20me%20by%20mistaking%20this%20dish%20for%20a%20meat%20one!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20Chili:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20pan,%20saute%20the%20onions%20in%20a%20little%20butter%20+%20a%20little%20salt%20&%20pepper%20until%20cooked.%20Add%20the%20bell%20peppers%20and%20saute%20for%20a%20couple%20more%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETransfer%20the%20onions%20and%20pepper%20into%20a%20pot.%20Add%20in%20mushrooms,%20tomatoes,%20beans,%20corn,%20jalapenos%20and%20bring%20to%20a%20boil.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBring%20back%20to%20a%20simmer%20and%20slowly%20add%20in%20chili%20powder,%20cayenne,%20paprika,%20cumin,%20salt%20&%20pepper%20to%20taste.%20Consistency%20should%20be%20pretty%20thick.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESlowly%20stir%20in%20the%20dark%20chocolate%20until%20melted%20in.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20separate%20frying%20pan,%20melt%20the%20stick%20of%20butter%20for%20the%20cornbread.%20Slowly%20whisk%20in%20milk,%20eggs,%20agave%20nectar.%20Remove%20from%20heat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20mixing%20bowl,%20combine%20the%20dry%20ingredients%20(flour,%20cornmeal,%20salt,%20baking%20soda,%20cocoa%20powder.%20Add%20the%20wet%20ingredients%20into%20the%20mixing%20bowl%20and%20mix%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%209X13%20pan,%20layer%20in%20the%20Chili%20on%20the%20bottom,%20cheese%20in%20the%20middle,%20and%20pour%20the%20cornbread%20mixture%20on%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20at%20375%20for%20around%2030-45%20minutes%20until%20cornbread%20is%20fully%20cooked%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20experiment%20with%20the%20yellow%20(non%20cocoa)%20cornbread%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20delicious%20cocoa%20cornbread%20I%20ended%20up%20going%20with!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
