Ingredientes

  • 1 c. plain cake crumbs
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar - (packed)
  • 1 tsp grnd cinnamon
  • 2 c. powdered sugar
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 x yeast cakes - (0.6 ounce ea)
  • 2 c. lukewarm lowfat milk
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 x egg
  • 1 c. cake flour
  • 5 c. bread flour
  • 3/4 tsp grnd nutmeg - (to 1 1/2 tspns)
  • 1/4 c. butter or possibly margarine - (1/2 stick) melted

Direcciones

  1. For the Filling: Combine cake crumbs, brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and mix well. Set aside.
  2. For the Powdered Sugar Glaze: Mix powdered sugar with warm water till smooth. Stir in vanilla.
  3. For the Rolls: Dissolve yeast cakes in lukewarm lowfat milk. Combine sugar, salt, shortening and egg in mixing bowl and mix at low speed 1 minute. Add in lowfat milk mix and mix 1 minute. Add in cake and bread flours and nutmeg and mix only sufficient for flour to be incorporated, not more than 5 min.
  4. Roll out to 18- by 12-inch rectangle on floured surface. Brush with butter and sprinkle with cake crumb filling. Starting from 18-inch side, roll up jellyroll fashion. Slice into 1-inch slices. Place on greased baking sheets, cut-side down, and pat out fairly flat. Cover and let rise till doubled.
  5. Bake at 400 degrees till golden brown, about 15 min. When partially cooled, brush with powdered sugar glaze.
  6. This recipe yields 18 rolls.
