%20as%20I%20went%20along.%20Then%20I%20got%20to%20the%20part%20of%20the%20directions%20where%20I%20was%20supposed%20to%20mix%20the%20wet%20and%20dry%20ingredients.%20I%20did%20a%20quick%20scan%20of%20rest%20of%20the%20directions.%20Nowhere%20does%20it%20mention%20what%20to%20do%20with%20the%20sugar%20that%E2%80%99s%20listed%20in%20the%20ingredients.%20Listed%20at%20the%20end,%20I%20might%20add,%20like%20an%20afterthought.%20I%E2%80%99m%20not%20a%20brownie%20virgin%20so%20I%20knew%20good%20and%20well%20that%20I%20was%20supposed%20to%20mix%20the%20sugar%20in%20with%20the%20dry%20ingredients.%20So%20I%20did.%20However,%20if%20I%20was%20new%20to%20making%20brownies%20and%20trying%20to%20follow%20these%20directions,%20I%20may%20not%20have%20known%20what%20to%20do%20with%20the%20sugar.%20I%20may%20have%20left%20it%20out%20or%20incorporated%20it%20at%20the%20wrong%20time,%20ruining%20the%20brownies.%20Maybe%20that%E2%80%99s%20where%20the%20name%20comes%20from%E2%80%A6%20But%20seriously,%20a%20cookbook%20is%20one%20place%20where%20you%20do%20NOT%20want%20to%20make%20a%20typo.%20I%20do%20have%20to%20say%20that%20the%20brownies%20were%20good.%20Not%20good%20enough%20to%20curse,%20but%20good%20enough%20to%20make%20again%20%E2%80%93%20with%20the%20correct%20directions.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20should%20have%20known%20better%20then%20to%20continue%20forward%20at%20that%20point,%20but%20I%20was%20making%20these%20petite%20treats%20for%20a%20holiday%20party%20later%20that%20night,%20and%20I%20was%20pressed%20for%20time.%20So,%20I%20started%20making%20the%20Whiskey%20Maple%20Bacon%20Mini%20Cupcakes.%20The%20name%20is%20amazing,%20and%20I%20figured%20that%20the%20cupcakes%20had%20to%20be%20amazing.%20You%20can%E2%80%99t%20go%20wrong%20when%20you%20add%20maple%20and%20bacon.%20Well,%20you%20can%20go%20wrong.%20Once%20again,%20I%20followed%20the%20recipe%20exactly.%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20notice%20any%20typos,%20but%20this%20time,%20my%20cupcake%20batter%20turned%20out%20like%20dough%20-%20sticky%20hard%20dough.%20I%20panicked%20and%20added%20some%20more%20liquid,%20but%20at%20that%20point,%20it%20was%20too%20late%20and%20the%20dough%20wouldn%E2%80%99t%20absorb%20the%20liquid%20correctly.%20I%20had%20to%20throw%20out%20the%20entire%20batch!%20I%20was%20devastated.%20Not%20only%20because%20I%20had%20been%20dying%20to%20try%20these%20cupcakes,%20but%20also%20because%20I%20just%20wasted%20all%20those%20ingredients.%20(In%20full%20disclosure,%20I%20substituted%20Bourbon%20for%20Whiskey%20but%20that%20shouldn%E2%80%99t%20impact%20the%20recipe.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20that%20I%20got%20mad%20at%20the%20book.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20then,%20I%20got%20revenge%20and%20made%20these%20delicious%20Bourbon%20Chocolate%20Cookies%20with%20a%20Salted%20Caramel%20Drizzle%20with%20my%20leftover%20ingredients.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20could%20go%20into%20whether%20the%20cookbook%20is%20easy%20to%20use%20and%20whether%20it%20has%20pretty%20pictures%20(it%20does,%20but%20not%20nearly%20enough%20as%20I%E2%80%99m%20a%20food%20photo%20addict),%20but%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20see%20the%20point.%20If%20the%20recipes%20aren%E2%80%99t%20correct,%20then%20it%E2%80%99s%20useless%20to%20a%20lot%20of%20people.%20However,%20if%20you%E2%80%99re%20a%20seasoned%20baker%20who%20knows%20the%20ins%20out%20and%20outs%20of%20flour/sugar%20proportions,%20and%20you%E2%80%99re%20tired%20of%20the%20usual%20chocolate%20chip%20cookies,%20the%20book%20does%20have%20some%20interesting%20ideas.%20%20For%20example,%20Blueberry-Lavender%20Scookies,%20which%20are%20a%20cross%20between%20scones%20and%20cookies.%20Or%20a%20Piecaken%20%E2%80%93%20which%20is%20like%20Turducken%20in%20dessert%20form.%20%20But,%20I%E2%80%99m%20sure%20there%20are%20other%20books%20out%20there%20that%20have%20adorably%20mini%20recipes%20AND%20don%E2%80%99t%20include%20typos%E2%80%A6%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
