%20coverage,%20I'm%20back%20for%20a%20third%20season%20and%20determined%20to%20improve%20my%20game.%20%20If%20you've%20forgotten%20why%20my%20follow-through%20was%20so%20abysmal%20in%202010,%20it%20was%20because%20I%20got%20pregnant%20in%20July%20and%20developed%20an%20aversion%20to%20vegetables%20that%20left%20me%20uninterested%20in%20cooking%20most%20of%20the%20items%20in%20my%20share%20during%20the%20height%20of%20the%20season.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20had%20to%20join%20a%20new%20program,%20as%20the%20one%20I'd%20been%20a%20member%20of%20for%20the%20past%20two%20years%20wasn't%20an%20option%20this%20year.%20%20Now,%20I'm%20a%20shareholder%20in%20Local%20Roots,%20a%20new%20CSA%20in%20the%20neighborhood.%20%20They've%20split%20the%20season%20into%20two%20halves%20(12%20weeks%20each),%20so%20for%20now%20I've%20paid%20for%20the%20first%2012%20weeks%20of%20produce.%20%20If%20all%20goes%20well,%20I'll%20buy%20a%20share%20in%20the%20second%20half%20of%20the%20season,%20too.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDan%20and%20I%20actually%20got%20a%20half%20share,%20as%20the%20%22whole%20share%22%20was%20described%20as%20being%20for%20larger%20families.%20%20So%20far,%20the%20amount%20of%20each%20type%20of%20produce%20seems%20good%20for%20the%20two%20of%20us%20(the%20baby%20is%20not%20eating%20solid%20foods%20yet),%20though%20there%20aren't%20a%20lot%20of%20different%20items%20yet.%20%20I'm%20hoping%20that%20the%20variety%20of%20vegetables%20we%20receive%20each%20week%20will%20increase%20as%20the%20growing%20season%20gets%20underway.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20other%20piece%20to%20this%20blogging-my-CSA-adventures%20puzzle%20is%20taking%20photos%20to%20share%20with%20you,%20and%20so%20far%20I've%20been%20trying%20to%20put%20the%20baby%20to%20bed%20during%20prime%20%22golden%20light%22%20hours.%20%20Eating%20in%20the%20dark%20doesn't%20make%20for%20nice%20pictures,%20either.%20%20But%20I'll%20work%20on%20getting%20you%20some%20shots%20of%20what%20we're%20receiving%20and%20eating.%20%20Can't%20be%20worse%20than%20last%20year,%20right?%20%20Right?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETonight%20begins%20Week%20Two,%20so%20I'll%20share%20a%20brief%20wrap-up%20of%20last%20week%20and%20look%20forward%20to%20filling%20you%20in%20on%20what%20follows.%20As%20in%20past%20years,%20items%20I%20mark%20as%20%22challenge%20vegetables%22%20are%20ones%20we're%20cooking%20with%20for%20the%20first%20time.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWeek%2001%20Produce:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELocal%20Roots%20linked%20to%20this%20helpful%20video%20about%20cooking%20with%20nettle.%20%20Don't%20get%20stung!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENettle%20from%20Local%20Roots%20NYC%20on%20Vimeo.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWith%20the%20produce%20from%20week%20one,%20Dan%20and%20I%20were%20able%20to%20make%20just%20two%20dishes:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20Stinging%20Nettle%20Pesto%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENotes:%20Dan%20prepared%20this%20with%20pine%20nuts,%20walnuts,%20nettle,%20oil,%20garlic%20and%20parmesan.%20%20We%20ate%20it%20over%20pasta%20one%20night,%20and%20also%20had%20it%20on%20toasted%20bread.%20%20It%20had%20a%20fairly%20mild%20flavor,%20so%20the%20garlic%20was%20a%20good%20addition.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20Big%20Salad%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENotes:%20I%20do%20like%20a%20big%20salad.%20%20We%20used%20the%20spinach,%20radishes,%20and%20scallions%20for%20this%20one%20and%20dressed%20it%20with%20left%20over%20arepa%20sauce%20from%20Caracas%20Arepa%20Bar.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EComing%20Up%20in%20Week%2002%20Produce:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20pound%20Quelite%20or%20%22Red%20Root,%22%20a%20sort%20of%20Mexican%20wild%20spinach%20-%20CHALLENGE%20VEGETABLE%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20head%20of%20Lettuce%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20bunch%20of%20Scallions%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20bunch%20of%20Parsley%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDid%20you%20join%20a%20CSA%20this%20year?%20What%20was%20in%20your%20first%20week's%20share?%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
