With the summer in full swing, I’m sure you and your family are trying to find ways to beat the heat. One of my favorite ways is going out for ice cream sundaes. However, when your child has a food sensitivity or food allergy to milk products, you do the next best thing – make ice cream sundaes at home.
When I was recently asked by The J.M. Smucker Company to create some unique tips for their Smucker’s® toppings, I thought that showing how to use their toppings in dairy free sundaes would be a great idea. To get inspiration, I went to my local Kroger store and found their ice cream toppings in the freezer section. Just walking through the ice aisle was a nice break from our steamy Georgia weather. %3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20going%20through%20the%20Smucker%E2%80%99s%C2%AE%20ice%20cream%20toppings,%20I%20ended%20up%20with%20a%20nice%20selection%20Smucker%E2%80%99s%C2%AE%20fruit%20toppings%20(strawberry%20and%20pineapple),%20marshmallow,%20and%20walnuts%20in%20syrup.%20I%20ended%20up%20buying%20two%20jars%20of%20marshmallow%20and%20two%20jars%20of%20strawberries%20because%20I%20know%20my%20kids%20would%20love%20both!%20For%20some%20reason%20my%20kids%20aren%E2%80%99t%20crazy%20about%20pineapple.%20I%E2%80%99m%20not%20sure%20how%20they%20can%20be%20related%20to%20me,%20because%20I%20adore%20pineapple%20topping.%20My%20daughter,%20Lucie,%20is%20allergic%20to%20nuts,%20but%20I%20love%20walnuts%20in%20syrup%20and%20I%20bet%20my%20son,%20Nathan,%20would%20also%20enjoy%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfterwards,%20I%20would%20normally%20head%20over%20to%20my%20Krogers%20health%20food%20section%20in%20search%20of%20a%20soy%20or%20coconut%20ice%20cream.%20However,%20I%20turned%20to%20my%20right%20and%20found%20the%20coolest%20(no%20pun%20intended)%20selection%20of%20Kroger%E2%80%99s%20Private%20Selection%20fruit%20sorbets%20.%20It%20was%20serendipity%20to%20have%20fruit%20sorbets%20to%20go%20with%20Smucker%E2%80%99s%C2%AE%20fruit%20toppings!%20While%20it%20was%20hard%20not%20to%20bring%20home%20every%20flavor!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFinally,%20I%20headed%20over%20to%20the%20health%20food%20aisle%20baking%20section%20to%20find%20some%20dairy%20free%20chocolate%20chips,%20dried%20fruit,%20and%20unsweetened%20shredded%20coconut.%20I%20thought%20they%E2%80%99d%20go%20well%20with%20Smucker%E2%80%99s%C2%AE%20walnuts%20in%20syrup%20as%20toppings%20or%20maybe%20as%20layers.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20loved%20how%20the%20frozen%20and%20health%20food%20aisles%20at%20Kroger%20and%20Smucker%E2%80%99s%C2%AE%20fruit%20toppings%20inspired%20me%20to%20come%20up%20with%20some%20tropical%20%E2%80%93%20and%20dairy%20free%20%E2%80%93%20sundae%20ideas.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhat%20kind%20of%20toppings%20do%20you%20like%20on%20your%20sundaes?%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
