.%20These%20guys%20play%20brilliant%20football,%20and%20I%20can't%20help%20but%20be%20enamored%20with%20their%20dedication%20to%20the%20sport%20and%20great%20team%20play.%20I'm%20sure%20they'll%20take%20the%20top%20of%20the%20table%20by%20the%20season's%20end,%20and%20with%20the%20number%20of%20injuries%20the%20team's%20had%20to%20endure%20they're%20doing%20amazingly%20well.%20The%20team's%20last%20EPL%20game,%20they%20topped%20Wigan%20Athletica%20and%20like%20a%20winter%20fairlytale,%20lovely%20white%20snow%20began%20falling%20on%20the%20pitch.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20anyways,%20here's%20my%20long-awaited%20blog%20post%20for%20November's%20DB%20Challenge:%20Crostata.%20The%202010%20November%20Daring%20Bakers%E2%80%99%20challenge%20was%20hosted%20by%20Simona%20of%20briciole.%20She%20chose%20to%20challenge%20Daring%20Bakers%E2%80%99%20to%20make%20pasta%20frolla%20for%20a%20crostata.%20She%20used%20her%20own%20experience%20as%20a%20source,%20as%20well%20as%20information%20from%20Pellegrino%20Artusi%E2%80%99s%20Science%20in%20the%20Kitchen%20and%20the%20Art%20of%20Eating%20Well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPasta%20Frolla%20(crust)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20c.%20minus%201%20tbsp%20superfine%20sugar%20or%20a%20scant%203/4%20cup%20of%20powdered%20sugar%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20and%203/4%20cup%20unbleached%20all-purpose%20flour%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ea%20pinch%20of%20salt%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20stick%20[8%20tbsp]%20cold%20unsalted%20butter,%20cut%20into%20small%20pieces%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Egrated%20zest%20of%20half%20a%20lemon%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20large%20egg%20+%20egg%20yolk,%20lightly%20beaten%20in%20a%20small%20bowl%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhisk%20together%20sugar,%20flour%20and%20salt%20in%20a%20bowl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERub%20or%20cut%20the%20butter%20into%20the%20flour%20until%20the%20mixture%20has%20the%20consistency%20of%20coarse%20crumbs.%20You%20can%20do%20this%20in%20the%20bowl%20or%20on%20your%20work%20surface,%20using%20your%20fingertips%20or%20an%20implement%20of%20choice.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMake%20a%20well%20in%20the%20center%20of%20the%20mounded%20flour%20and%20butter%20mixture%20and%20pour%20the%20beaten%20eggs%20into%20it%20(reserve%20about%20a%20teaspoon%20of%20the%20egg%20mixture%20for%20glazing%20purposes%20later%20on%20%E2%80%93%20place%20in%20the%20refrigerator,%20covered,%20until%20ready%20to%20use).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20lemon%20zest%20to%20your%20flour/butter/egg%20mixture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUse%20a%20fork%20to%20incorporate%20the%20liquid%20into%20the%20solid%20ingredients,%20and%20then%20use%20your%20fingertips.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EKnead%20lightly%20just%20until%20the%20dough%20comes%20together%20into%20a%20ball.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EShape%20the%20dough%20into%20a%20flat%20disk%20and%20wrap%20in%20plastic%20wrap.%20Place%20the%20dough%20in%20the%20refrigerator%20and%20chill%20for%20at%20least%20two%20hours.%20You%20can%20refrigerate%20the%20dough%20overnight.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERoll%20dough,%20and%20form%20into%20a%20baking%20pan.%20Add%20filling,%20and%20bake%20in%20350degree%20oven%20for%2045minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBerry%20Filling%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMelt%20butter%20in%20a%20heavy%20bottomed%20saucepan,%20add%20in%20the%20sugar%20and%202%20tbsp%20flour%20to%20form%20roux.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20in%20the%20berries,%20and%20heat%20over%20medium%20until%20berries%20become%20macerated.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%201/4%20cup%20milk%20to%20the%20mix%20and%20continue%20stirring%20mixture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20in%20the%20flour%20+%20baking%20powder%20mix,%20stirring%20until%20well%20combined.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESlowly%20add%20in%20the%20eggs,%20mixing%20well%20to%20ensure%20that%20the%20eggs%20do%20not%20begin%20to%20cook;%20and%20if%20batter%20remains%20thick,%20add%20in%20additional%20milk%20to%20form%20a%20batter%20with%20pudding-like%20consistency.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20into%20the%20pasta%20frolla%20crust%20and%20bake%20at%20350degrees%20until%20a%20toothpick%20inserted%20into%20the%20center%20comes%20out%20clean.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYay!!%20The%20crostata%20was%20tasty,%20and%20with%20the%20winter-ish%20weather%20doing%20it's%20business%20outside%20(seriously,%20I%20can't%20believe%20it%20began%20snowing%20already)%20my%20family%20enjoyed%20the%20warm%20pie%20with%20a%20big%20dollop%20of%20whipped%20cream.%20Mmmmm...%20I%20cannot%20wait%20until%20Christmas%20rolls%20around,%20it%20seems%20so%20close%20yet%20so%20far!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
