Ingredientes

  • 6 c. tart cherries (pitted)
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • Few drops red food coloring
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 3 tbsp. cornstarch
  • Dash salt
  • 3-4 tbsp. butter

Direcciones

  1. In large bowl combine cherries, sugars, cornstarch, extract, food coloring and salt. Place in a greased 2 qt (13x9 inch) casserole. Dot with butter. Set aside.
  2. For crust, combine flour, sugar, salt and nutmeg. Cut in shortening. Add in water, a little at a time, till a dough forms. Don't over mix. Roll out on a floured surface to fit top of casserole. Place on top of cherry mix, pressing against sides of dish. Cut 3 X's in top crust. Brush with lowfat milk and sprinkle with sugar. Bake 350 degrees 1 hour or possibly till crust is brown. Cold 15 min. Serves 8 to 10.
