%20during%20the%20late%2080's%20till%20its%20disintegration%20into%20smaller%20states.There%20were%20several%20lakhs%20of%20fans%20for%20Gorbhachev%20and%20even%20advocates%20of%20Perestroika%20and%20Glasnost.The%20Indo-USSR%20relations%20were%20at%20the%20peak%20then%20with%20several%20friendship%20treaties%20being%20signed%20between%20the%20two%20countries%20and%20the%20smiling%20faces%20of%20Gorbhachev%20was%20to%20be%20seen%20almost%20everyday%20on%20the%20tv.We%20looked%20up%20to%20USSR,as%20it%20was%20a%20developed%20country%20and%20that%20too%20on%20par%20with%20USA.The%20influence%20could%20be%20seen%20in%20kids%20being%20named%20Mikhail,Lenin,Tolstoy%20and%20Stalin.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20were%20exposed%20to%20its%20culture%20through%20the%20literary%20works%20of%20several%20Russian%20writers,famous%20and%20otherwise,the%20International%20film%20festivals%20which%20had%20several%20Russian%20films,magazines%20like%20%22misha%22%20(thats%20the%20name%20I%20think),the%20cultural%20exchange%20programs,Russian%20education%20especially%20the%20medical%20course%20which%20was%20least%20expensive,and%20even%20the%20Russian%20language%20classes%20at%20schools.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20me%20being%20at%20an%20impressionable%20age,thought%20that%20a%20different%20language%20for%20communication%20added%20an%20element%20of%20mystery.But%20being%20tied%20up%20with%20some%20other%20coursework%20I%20could%20not%20join%20the%20language%20classes%20and%20I%20made%20it%20up%20by%20getting%20the%20alphabets%20and%20words%20from%20my%20friends%20who%20had%20joined.%20I%20am%20not%20sure%20whether%20the%20school%20started%20this%20just%20to%20fall%20in%20line%20with%20the%20Russian%20crazed%20politicos%20and%20not%20the%20love%20of%20the%20language%20but%20whatever%20it%20is,these%20were%20discontinued%20within%20few%20months%20or%20so.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETime%20flies%20as%20always%20and%20childhood%20gave%20way%20to%20teenage%20and%20we%20saw%20USSR%20being%20disintegrated%20to%20several%20independent%20states.That%20was%20the%20end%20of%20the%20craze%20atleast%20for%20me.Looking%20back%20I%20think%20except%20Russian%20cuisine%20we%20were%20influenced%20by%20everything%20about%20Russia%20.So%20coming%20to%20todays%20post,I%20found%20a%20simple%20traditional%20Russian%20Tea%20recipe%20here%20and%20have%20adapted%20it.As%20in%20UK,tea%20is%20a%20tradition%20in%20Russia%20with%20the%20tea%20being%20warmed%20throughout%20the%20day%20in%20samovars(which%20were%20also%20seen%20in%20Kerala%20during%20the%20craze%20though%20I%20am%20not%20sure%20whether%20the%20resemblence%20was%20in%20name%20only)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETea:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreparation:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMake%20tea%20by%20boiling%20water%20and%20then%20adding%20tea%20leaves.Boil%20for%20a%20few%20minutes%20then%20allow%20it%20to%20seep%20and%20then%20strain%20the%20leaves%20out.Set%20aside%20and%20keep%20warm.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMake%20a%20simple%20syrup%20by%20boiling%20the%20water%20and%20sugar%20to%20which%20the%20cloves%20and%20zest%20has%20been%20added.Bring%20the%20syrup%20to%20a%20boil,keep%20on%20stirring%20till%20the%20sugar%20dissolves%20and%20then%20continue%20boiling%20for%201-2%20minutes%20then%20remove%20from%20heat.Strain%20and%20then%20allow%20it%20to%20cool%20a%20bit.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20together%20the%20strain%20tea%20with%20the%20strained%20simple%20syrup.Add%20the%20juice%20of%20a%20small%20orange%20(4%20tbsp%20+)and%20a%20squeeze%20of%20lemon.Keep%20warm%20by%20putting%20it%20on%20low%20heat%20but%20do%20not%20boil.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreferebly%20serve%20this%20orangey%20tea%20warm.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20keeping,%20the%20orange%20and%20spice%20flavour%20increases%20and%20since%20the%20weather%20was%20hot%20I%20enjoyed%20it%20chilled%20as%20well.If%20you%20are%20a%20tea%20person%20like%20me%20you%20will%20love%20this.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20above%20rant%20is%20just%20my%20point%20of%20view%20of%20things%20or%20recollection%20of%20events%20during%20my%20school%20life%20and%20in%20no%20way%20specifies%20my%20ideologies%20or%20principles%20or%20anything%20for%20that%20matter.Ofcourse%20I%20still%20treasure%20my%20copy%20of%20translated%20Russian%20folktales%20and%20the%20moth%20eaten%20copy%20of%20Russian%20alphabets%20much%20to%20the%20amusement%20(and%20irritation)%20of%20my%20parents.The%20orangey%20tea%20is%20my%20first%20entry%20to%20AWED:Russia%20at%20Food%20for%207%20Stages%20of%20Life,an%20event%20by%20DK.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
