%20are%20busy%20baking%20crescia%20di%20pasqua,%20a%20local%20Marche%20Easter%20bread%20in%20two%20types:%20sweet%20or%20dolce%20and%20the%20more%20common%20savory,%20brusca.%20What%20is%20becoming%20an%20annual%20tradition%20of%20mine,%20I%20stopped%20off%20early%20Wednesday%20morning%20at%20our%20neighbor%20Pia%E2%80%99s%20house%20to%20visit%20with%20her%20&%20marvel%20at%20the%2050%20+%20loaves%20she%20had%20rising%20about%20the%20house%20(using%20over%20200%20eggs%20&%20about%206lbs%20of%20cheese).%20The%20most%20incredible%20(&%20hysterical)%20scene%20was%20in%20the%20bedroom:%20the%20special%20dolce%20(sweet)%20bread%20was%20snuggled%20up,%20wrapped%20tightly%20under%20layers%20of%20blankets%20(including%20an%20electric%20blanket)%20in%20their%20bed!%20Kept%20warm,%20safe%20&%20sound%20to%20rise%20slowly.%20Before%20electric%20blankets%20they%20used%20coals%20from%20the%20fire!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20Festivals%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20comes%20Good%20Friday%20(with%20a%20proper%20fish%20dinner%20of%20course)-%20where%20almost%20every%20village%20celebrates%20with%20living%20scenes%20of%20the%20stations%20of%20the%20cross%20&%20a%20candle-lite%20procession%20through%20town.%20Religious%20or%20not%20it%20is%20always%20a%20sight%20to%20see.%20Visit%20Cantiano%20for%20its%20absolutely%20amazing%20play%20of%20the%20Passion.%20Talk%20about%20a%20production%20-%20gorgeous%20Romans%20arriving%20on%20horseback%20to%20an%20incredibly%20huge%20stage%20in%20the%20center%20Piazza%20of%20town,%20flowing%20costumes,%20huge%20cast,%20complete%20with%20lights,%20music%20&%20some%20serious%20over%20acting!%20In%20nearby%20Cagli,%20%20the%20scene%20was%20a%20bit%20more%20intense%20with%20over%20350%20barefooted,%20cloaked%20&%20hooded%20men%20make%20their%20way%20through%20town%20with%20torches%20-%20oh!%20did%20I%20mention%20the%20hoods%20are%20white!%20It%20was%20a%20bit%20too%20KKK%20&%20gave%20me%20the%20chills!%20Nevertheless,%20this%20ritual%20has%20remained%20unchanged%20since%20the%2016th%20century.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20Feasts%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESaturday%20we%20eat%20lightly%20because%20Easter%20Sunday%20lunch%20at%20the%20good%20Doctor%20Gaggi%E2%80%99s%20house%20we%20will%20be%20fed%20a%20feast%20among%20family%20&%20friends.%20Traditionally%20we%20eat%20a%20big%20breakfast%20with%20salami,%20blessed%20boiled%20eggs%20with%20salsa%20verde,%20crescia%20di%20pasqua.%20Then%20for%20lunch%20cappelletti%20in%20brodo%20and%20lamb%20of%20course%20must%20be%20on%20the%20menu.%20I%20would%20be%20remiss%20not%20to%20mention%20that%20the%20boiled%20eggs%20are%20actually%20brought%20to%20our%20local%20priest%20to%20be%20blessed!But%20in%20Italy%20we're%20not%20done%20celebrating%20on%20Sunday...The%20most%20popular%20feast%20day%20is%20actually%20Lunedi%20di%20Pasqua,%20Easter%20Monday%20where%20friends%20gather%20(most%20in%20the%20countryside)%20for%20a%20long%20leisurely%20lunch%20&%20for%20an%20Italian%20that%20means%20heading%20home%20around%207:30/8pm.%20They%20say%20Easter%20is%20for%20your%20family,%20Easter%20Monday%20for%20your%20friends%20(or%20who%20you%20choose).%20This%20year%20we%20are%20choosing%20to%20spend%20the%20day%20with%20our%20friends%20for%20lunch%20atop%20Mt.%20Nerone.%20For%20the%20first%20time%20on%20Lunedi%20di%20Pasqua%20we%20are%20the%20guests,%20normally%20we%20are%20serving%20lunch%20for%2020+%20hungry%20Italians,%20it%20will%20be%20nice%20to%20do%20nothing%20but%20eat%20-%20the%20proper%20way%20to%20celebrate%20the%20day!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBuona%20Pasqua!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
