%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDespite%20living%20in%20a%20city%20with%20limited%20public%20transportation%20options,%20I%E2%80%99m%20not%20a%20total%20metro%20newb.%20I%E2%80%99ve%20ridden%20the%20metro%20in%20San%20Francisco,%20Washington%20D.C.,%20and%E2%80%A6%20well,%20okay,%20maybe%20that%E2%80%99s%20it.%20But%20still,%20those%20are%20big%20cities!%20I%20wouldn%E2%80%99t%20expect%20to%20be%20too%20surprised%20by%20a%20subway%20system%20at%20this%20point.%20However,%20I%E2%80%99ve%20never%20experienced%20anything%20like%20the%20metro%20in%20Rome.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20Rome,%20people%20press%20together%20like%20sardines%20(or%20like%20a%20panino?%20Bad%20Italy%20joke?)%20to%20fit%20into%20the%20train%20car%20in%20the%20morning.%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20just%20mean%20they%E2%80%99re%20crowded:%20I%20mean%20they%E2%80%99re%20PRESSED%20TOGETHER,%20body-on-body,%20tall%20people%20hovering%20over%20short%20people,%20like%20a%20subterranean%20human%20jigsaw%20puzzle.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20first%20hint%20that%20the%20Roman%20metro%20was%20going%20to%20be%20a%20unique%20experience%20came%20when%20a%20train%20pulled%20up%20and%20the%20doors%20opened%20to%20reveal%20a%20nearly%20overflowing%20car.%20Two%20girls%20walked%20right%20up%20and%20inexplicably%20merged%20with%20this%20wall%20of%20people%20to%20get%20onboard.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20thought%20these%20two%20women%20were%20just%20particularly%20driven%20(late%20for%20work,%20maybe?),%20but%20when%20we%20got%20on%20the%20next%20train,%20a%20sea%20of%20people%20pushed%20in%20behind%20us.%20Like,%20full-body%20pushing%20against%20full%20body.%20I%20had%20a%20few%20moments%20where%20I%20wondered%20if%20anyone%20had%20ever%20fallen%20and%20been%20trampled%20on%20the%20Roman%20subway%20(something%20to%20Google?%20Maybe%20I%20better%20not)%20before%20I%20was%20shoved%20into%20the%20back%20of%20a%20nicely%20suited%20Italian%20businessman.%20Later,%20when%20the%20train%20had%20emptied%20a%20bit%20and%20I%20had%20peeled%20myself%20away,%20he%20would%20avoid%20eye%20contact%20as%20I%20shot%20him%20apologetic%20glances.%20I%20guess%20this%20was%20an%20everyday%20occurrence%20for%20him?%20He%20was%20handsome,%20at%20least.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEven%20after%20I%20was%20able%20to%20unglue%20myself%20a%20few%20stops%20in,%20I%20spent%20the%20rest%20of%20the%20ride%20clinging%20to%20a%20pole,%20virtually%20in%20the%20armpit%20of%20a%20tattooed%20gentleman%20that%20was%20thankfully%20also%20handsome%20and%20well-groomed.%20I%E2%80%99d%20like%20to%20extend%20a%20very%20hearty%20thank%20you%20to%20him%20for%20using%20deodorant%20that%20day,%20and%20for%20choosing%20interesting%20skin%20art%20for%20me%20to%20enjoy%20during%20my%20ride.%20Also,%20thank%20you%20to%20Rome%20as%20a%20whole%20for%20providing%20me%20with%20such%20an%20entertaining%20experience.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20year%20ago:%20Biscoff%20Spread%20Gooey%20Butter%20Cake%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETwo%20years%20ago:%20Eggs%20%C3%A0%20l%E2%80%99Oignon%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThree%20years%20ago:%20Coffee%20Mousse%20Filled%20Double%20Chocolate%20Chunk%20Cookie%20Sandwiches%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFour%20years%20ago:%20Lemon%20Raspberry%20Cake%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEasy%20Cheesy%20Artichoke%20Dip%20in%20a%20Baguette%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERecipe%20by:%20Willow%20Bird%20Baking%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYield:%206%20servings%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20mother-in-law%20makes%20the%20best%20artichoke%20dip%20with%20only%203%20ingredients!%20I%20stuffed%20it%20into%20a%20baguette%20for%20easy%20eating.%20It%20makes%20the%20perfect%20party%20food,%20and%20you%E2%80%99ll%20be%20amazed%20by%20how%20good%20it%20is!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20oven%20to%20350%20degrees%20F%20and%20line%20a%20baking%20sheet%20with%20aluminum%20foil.%20Slice%20the%20French%20bread%20lengthwise%20into%20two%20halves%20and%20gently%20tear%20out%20excess%20bread,%20forming%20a%20well%20down%20the%20center%20of%20each%20half.%20Brush%20both%20halves%20with%20the%20melted%20butter%20and%20place%20them%20on%20the%20prepared%20baking%20sheets.%20In%20a%20medium%20bowl,%20mix%20mayonnaise,%20artichokes,%20and%20cheese.%20Salt%20and%20pepper%20to%20taste.%20Fill%20both%20loaf%20halves%20with%20the%20mixture%20and%20bake%20for%2020%20minutes%20or%20until%20melted%20and%20browning.%20Serve%20immediately%20by%20slicing%20into%201-inch%20slices%20(or%20you%20can%20serve%20with%20buttery%20Club%20crackers,%20or%20both!)%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
