%20also%20good%20for%20beef%20veggie%20soup,%20beef%20burritos/%20tacos,%20enchilada%20filling,%20beef%20and%20noodles,%20hash%20and%20pot%20pies!!%22%20She%20adds%20that%20when%20making%20this%20for%20Mexican%20dishes%20she%20adds%20taco%20seasoning%20and%20that%20%22it%20freezes%20awesome!%22%20I'm%20all%20for%20freezing%20extra%20food%20for%20future%20meals.%20Good%20call,%20Emily%20and%20thank%20you%20for%20a%20wonderful%20recipe!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20recipe%20possessed%20the%20flavor%20that%20my%20first%20attempt%20at%20Italian%20Beef%20was%20lacking%20AND%20yielded%20plenty%20of%20broth%20to%20soak%20into%20the%20sandwich%20bread.%20This%20is%20what%20I%20was%20looking%20for!%20Best%20of%20all,%20you%20only%20need%20three%20ingredients!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20begin,%20you%20need%20a%20roast.%20Emily%20recommended%20a%20rolled%20or%20tip%20roast,%20however%20I%20had%20this%20chuck%20roast%20in%20my%20freezer,%20so%20I%20went%20with%20that.%20To%20season%20the%20beef%20you%20need%20two%20packets%20of%20Zesty%20Italian%20seasoning%20and%20some%20Spicy%20V8%20(I%20used%20the%20store%20brand).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20the%20seasoning%20packets%20and%2012%20oz.%20of%20the%20juice%20in%20your%20crock%20pot.%20Add%20the%20roast,%20turn%20to%20coat,%20then%20cover%20and%20cook%20on%20LOW%20for%208%20hours.%20I%20ended%20up%20turning%20mine%20over%20once%20or%20twice%20during%20the%20cooking%20time%20to%20give%20each%20side%20a%20turn%20at%20soaking%20in%20%22the%20juice%22.%20I%20know%20that%20this%20was%20totally%20not%20necessary,%20but%20the%20recipe%20is%20just%20so%20easy%20that%20I%20had%20to%20put%20my%20hands%20on%20it%20a%20couple%20of%20times%20to%20feel%20like%20I%20actually%20did%20something.%20Oh,%20I%20know%20that%20you%20lose%2020%20minutes%20of%20cooking%20time%20each%20time%20you%20lift%20the%20lid%20of%20your%20slow%20cooker,%20but%20mine%20cooks%20so%20fast%20that%20I%20wasn't%20concerned%20about%20losing%20heat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAt%20the%20end%20of%20the%208%20hours,%20the%20roast%20was%20%22fall%20apart%20tender%22.%20I%20moved%20it%20to%20a%20casserole%20dish,%20pulled%20it%20apart,%20and%20then%20transferred%20the%20beef%20back%20into%20the%20broth%20remaining%20in%20the%20crock%20pot.%20It%20went%20for%20a%20nice%20swim%20while%20I%20readied%20the%20sandwich%20fixings.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20decided%20that%20I%20wanted%20some%20sweet%20onions%20and%20peppers%20for%20our%20sammies%20so%20I%20sauteed%20them%20in%20a%20little%20olive%20oil%20on%20the%20stovetop%20until%20tender.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20was%20just%20about%20perfect...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20then%20I%20thought,%20%22This%20would%20be%20even%20better%20with%20some%20provolone%20melted%20over%20the%20top.%22%20So%20I%20slapped%20on%20the%20cheese,%20fired%20up%20the%20broiler,%20and%20slid%20the%20sandwich%20underneath.%20Then%20I%20broke%20the%20%231%20rule%20in%20broiling...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20walked%20from%20the%20oven.%20YUM...charred%20Italian%20Beef%20Sandwiches.%20I've%20said%20it%20before%20and%20I'll%20say%20it%20again:%20NEVER%20walk%20away%20from%20the%20oven%20when%20using%20the%20broiler.%20It's%20bad%20news,%20Man.%20But%20the%20good%20news?%20I%20was%20able%20to%20salvage%20this%20sandwich.%20I%20just%20got%20rid%20of%20the%20burned%20half%20of%20the%20hoagie%20roll%20and%20ate%20it%20open%20faced.%20Whew!%20Close%20one.%20I%20would%20have%20hated%20to%20waste%20such%20a%20delicious%20sandwich.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHere%20is%20Emily's%20recipe%20courtesy%20of%20her%20mother-in-law%20:%20)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECrockpot%20on%20low%20for%208%20hrs.%20Pull%20apart.%20Reheat%20in%20crockpot%20(if%20prepared%20ahead),%20serve%20with%20rolls%20and%20all%20the%20fixings.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
