Last week, my beautiful family and I took a week long vacation at Disneyworld in Orlando, FL. What’s crazy is, we never once pulled out the credit card while we were there, and even came back with money left over. And we had a BLAST!!!
Oh my goodness, Disney world is so much fun! You can nay-say it all you want but Disney is the ultimate place to take your kids ( or leave them behind if you want!). The place has everything you could ever want and there is something for everyone! The service is always top-notch and the experience is one to be remembered for a lifetime.

.%20The%20place%20has%20everything%20you%20could%20ever%20want%20and%20there%20is%20something%20for%20everyone!%20The%20service%20is%20always%20top-notch%20and%20the%20experience%20is%20one%20to%20be%20remembered%20for%20a%20lifetime.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhat%20Disney%20isn%E2%80%99t%20is%20cheap.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThere%20is%20nothing%20cheap%20about%20Disney.%20We%20actually%20had%20a%20game%20of%20who%20could%20find%20the%20cheapest%20thing%20at%20Disney.%20My%20son%20won.%20It%20was%20a%20plastic%20keychain%20for%20$2.%20That%E2%80%99s%20cheaper%20than%20a%20bottle%20of%20water%20which%20is%20$2.50.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20plan%20it%20right,%20though,%20Disney%20can%20be%20done%20without%20breaking%20the%20bank%20and%20without%20a%20lot%20of%20compromises.%20Here%20is%20the%20breakdown%20for%20us%20(%20note:%20we%20are%20not%20professional%20Disney%20travelers.%20Everyone%20is%20different.%20This%20is%20what%20worked%20for%20us%20and%20our%20budget):%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20EVERYTHING%20(%20gas,%20room,%20tickets,%20mouse%20ears,%20date%20night,%20etc.)%20we%20spent%20about%20$3600%20%E2%80%93%20yes%20that%E2%80%99s%20a%20lot%20of%20money.%20Could%20we%20have%20vacationed%20somewhere%20else%20for%20cheaper?%20Sure.%20But%20it%20wouldn%E2%80%99t%20be%20Disney.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESeptember%20is%20THE%20time%20to%20go.%20We%20showed%20up%20on%20Labor%20Day%20and%20stayed%20all%20week.%20We%20didn%E2%80%99t%20wait%20for%20anything%20(rides,%20food,%20buses)%20until%20that%20Saturday.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFall%20is%20also%20the%20time%20for%20the%20FREE%20Dining%20Plan%20promotion%20with%20Disney.%20Do%20it!!%20Take%20it!!!%20Meals%20at%20Disney%20are%20insane.%20A%20hot%20dog%20lunch%20for%204%20will%20cost%20you%20$65%20and%20dinner%20is%20over%20$100.%20Could%20you%20pack%20a%20meal?%20Sure%20you%20could,%20but%20do%20you%20really%20want%20to?%20Trust%20me,%20carrying%20a%2040%20pound%20backpack%20around%20all%20day%20is%20no%20joke.%20Get%20the%20free%20meal%20plan%20and%20save%20yourself%20the%20back%20ache.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20live%20less%20than%2012%20hours%20away%E2%80%A6drive.%20Unless%20you%20can%20find%20a%20crazy%20cheap%20air%20flight%20deal.%20We%20spent%20$300%20on%20gas.%20Airfare%20would%20have%20been%20$1200.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlan.%20Plan.%20Plan.%20Get%20on%20the%20Disney%20Mom%E2%80%99s%20blog,%20check%20out%20Disney%20Diva%E2%80%99s,%20read%20a%20book%20or%20two%20and%20plan%20your%20days%20out!%20Not%20in%20minute%20detail%20but%20certainly%20which%20park%20you%20are%20going%20to%20be%20in%20and%20any%20%20dining%20reservations%20you%20have.%20Make%20a%20spreadsheet!%20I%20mean%20it.%20Excel%20is%20your%20friend%20for%20Disney%20planning.%20%20FYI%20%E2%80%93%20Book%20your%20ADR%E2%80%99s%20(%20advanced%20dining%20reservations)%20ASAP!%20And%20make%20sure%20to%20get%20the%20Fantasmic%20package%20too.%20Even%20if%20you%20don%E2%80%99t%20go%20to%20the%20show,%20you%20get%20extra%20stuff%20on%20your%20meal%20reservation%20and%20it%E2%80%99s%20only%20one%20credit.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EProbably%20the%20%231%20thing%20that%20saved%20us%20from%20kid%20meltdowns%20was%20the%20allowance.%20My%20aunt%20(%20thanks%20Aunt%20Barb!)%20Gave%20the%20kids%E2%80%99%20their%20birthday%20money%20early.%20$75%20each.%20And%20that%20is%20what%20they%20had%20to%20spend%20at%20Disney.%20No%20more.%20No%20less.%20We%20bought%20them%20t-shirts/hats,%20but%20any%20toys/crap%20was%20on%20them.%20It%20made%20shopping%20much%20easier.%20The%20%E2%80%9CI%20wants%E2%80%9D%20were%20none-existent.%20Thank%20goodness.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20%232%20thing%20that%20saved%20us%20from%20kid%20meltdowns%20(%20and%20Mommy%20meltdowns)%20were%20naps.%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20care%20how%20old%20you%20are%20take%20a%20freaking%20nap.%20Right%20after%20lunch%20it%20is%20really%20hot%20in%20Florida%20and%20the%20AC%20in%20your%20room%20is%20a%20great%20way%20to%20kill%20some%20time%20and%20recharge%20for%20the%20upcoming%20evening.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFASTPASS%20is%20a%20glorious%20thing.%20Study%20it%20then%20use%20it,%20but%20only%20for%20the%20big%20rides%20like%20Everest%20or%20Toy%20Story%20Mania.%20Not%203D%20movies%20or%20musicals,%20they%20have%20lots%20of%20seating%20so%20dont%20fastpass%20those.%20Also,%20the%20Single%20Rider%20Line%20for%20the%20big%20rides%20are%20THE%20way%20to%20go.%20That%E2%80%99s%20how%20the%20hubby%20and%20I%20rode%20Expedition%20Everest%20several%20times.%20Someone%20stayed%20with%20the%20kids%20and%20someone%20rode%20the%20ride%20and%20then%20we%20swapped.%20The%20wait%20to%20ride%20was%20zilch.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnly%20use%20CASH!%20We%20did%20Disney%20Dave%20Ramsey%20style%20and%20gave%20ourselves%20a%20cash%20budget%20everyday%20(%20Usually%20$100).%20We%20didn%E2%80%99t%20use%20our%20room%20keys%20to%20charge%20anything%20to%20the%20room,%20we%20didn%E2%80%99t%20use%20our%20debit%20card%20to%20buy%20anything.%20It%20was%20cash%20only!%20And%20it%20worked%20great!%20We%20even%20came%20back%20with%20a%20little%20cash%20in%20our%20pockets.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThat%20was%20pretty%20much%20our%20Disney%20plan%20to%20make%20our%20Disney%20vacation%20more%20affordable%20and%20much%20more%20fun.%20We%20hope%20to%20do%20it%20again%20in%20a%20few%20years%20when%20the%20kids%20are%20about%2010%20so%20that%20they%20can%20really%20get%20into%20riding%20all%20the%20rides.%20Not%20to%20mention%20that%20gives%20us%20plenty%20of%20time%20to%20save%20up!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
