  • 1 cup tightly packed chopped cabbage
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz.) vegetable broth
  • 2 cans (15 oz.) cannellini beans
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded, plus more for serving
  • 8 slices day old rustic Italian or French bread, about 1-inch thick
