Receta Football, Game Day Favorites and a Hatch Green Chile Relleno Casserole

Ingredientes
- 1 lb. grated Muenster cheese
- 1 lb. grated Monterey Jack cheese
- 4 beaten eggs
- 1 (12oz.) can evaporated milk
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- For the Sauce:
- 16 oz tomato sauce
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1-2 fresh jalapeno peppers (depending on level of heat you want), finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
- Sour cream for garnish

%20and%20I%E2%80%99ve%20been%20convinced%20to%20invest%20some%20Sunday%20afternoon%20hours%20with%20the%20boys%20in%20orange.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBaseball%20was%20my%20first%20love%20and%20the%20St.%20Louis%20Cardinals%20will%20always%20hold%20a%20place%20near%20and%20dear%20to%20my%20heart%20but%20moving%20to%20Denver%20holds%20an%20expectation%20and%20that%20expectation%20is%20that%20you%20get%20swept%20up%20into%20Broncos%20frenzy.%20The%20years%20of%20almost%20and%20the%20years%20of%20embarrassing%20and%20then%20finally%20the%20years%20of%20Super%20Bowl%20victories;%20I%20was%20there%20for%20them%20all.%20I%20actually%20remember%20the%20first%20game%20that%20I%20watched%20with%20a%20group%20of%20friends%20over%2020%20years%20ago.%20That%20day%20was%20not%20yet%20my%20day%20of%20football%20frenzy%20reckoning%E2%80%A6not%20even%20close.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStill,%20it%20was%20a%20big%20day.%20Why?%20Well,%20I%20am%20a%20proud%20member%20of%20the%20%E2%80%98Green%20Pepper%20Haterz%20Club%E2%80%99%20and%20for%20many,%20many%20years%20I%20lumped%20all%20peppers%20of%20the%20green%20variety%20into%20the%20fold.%20%20But%20then%20this%20dish%20was%20part%20of%20an%20assortment%20set%20out%20for%20folks%20to%20enjoy%20and%20everything%20changed.%20Truth%20is%20if%20I%20had%20known%20that%20any%20form%20of%20pepper%20that%20was%20green%20was%20layered%20within%20I%20might%20have%20passed%20it%20by%20but%20our%20relationship%20was%20meant%20to%20be%20and%20I%20took%20a%20chance%20on%20love%20and%20was%20swept%20away%20for%20a%20lifetime.%20The%20club%20name%20needs%20to%20be%20changed%20to%20%E2%80%98Green%20BELL%20Pepper%20Haterz%20Club%E2%80%99%20since%20they%20are%20the%20reviled%20ones%E2%80%A6Hatch,%20poblano,%20%20jalapeno%20and%20serrano%E2%80%A6they%20have%20all%20become%20my%20friends.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20don%E2%80%99t%20have%20a%20clue%20who%20won%20or%20lost%20that%20game%20or%20even%20the%20people%20I%20was%20with;%20but%20I%20wanted%20the%20recipe%20bad%20so%20I%20hunted%20down%20the%20person%20who%20made%20it%20(BI%20%E2%80%93%20Before%20Internet).%20Now%20it%E2%80%99s%20sure%20to%20be%20on%20the%20menu%20for%20some%20get%20together%20every%20single%20year.%20It%20just%20seemed%20the%20perfect%20fit%20for%20this%20post%20where%20I%20wanted%20to%20create%20a%20collection%20of%20Game%20Day%20Favorites;%20this%20dish%20is%20my%20quintessential%20favorite.%20It%E2%80%99s%20simple%20too;%20a%20mixture%20of%20cheeses%20are%20layered%20with%20chiles%20and%20it%E2%80%99s%20all%20held%20together%20during%20baking%20with%20some%20eggs%20and%20milk.%20Topped%20for%20the%20last%20part%20of%20the%20bake%20with%20tomato%20sauce%20that%20has%20been%20flavored%20with%20onion,%20jalapeno%20and%20garlic%20which%20is%20topped%20with%20a%20dollop%20of%20sour%20cream%20and%20I%20think%20it%E2%80%99s%20simply%20to%20die%20for.%20Albeit%20a%20spicy%20to%20die%20for.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99ve%20assembled%20some%20favorites%20of%20mine%20and%20other%20bloggers%20in%20a%20%E2%80%98Game%20Day%20Favorites%E2%80%99%20collection%20on%20Foodie;%20check%20them%20out%20after%20the%20recipe.%20And%20please%20humor%20me%20because%20I%20have%20to%20say%20it%20again,%20%E2%80%98GO%20BRONCOS!!%E2%80%99%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EChili%20Relleno%20Casserole%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E8-10%20green%20chiles;%20roasted,%20cleaned%20and%20seeded%20(I%20used%20a%20milder%20Hatch%20green%20chile)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreparation%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWash%20chilies%20and%20remove%20seeds,%20drain%20well%20and%20dry%20between%20paper%20towels.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20chilies%20flat%20in%20casserole%20and%20layer%20with%20mixed%20cheeses.%20Repeat%20each%20layer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBeat%20eggs%20in%20separate%20bowl%20and%20mix%20in%20evaporated%20milk,%20flour%20and%20salt.%20Pour%20over%20casserole.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20in%20preheated%20325%20degree%20oven%20for%201%20hour.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESaute%20onion,%20jalapeno%20and%20garlic%20until%20soft.%20Add%20tomato%20sauce%20and%20simmer%20for%2030%20minutes.%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20one%20hour%20remove%20the%20casserole%20from%20the%20oven.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20the%20tomato%20and%20jalapeno%20mixture%20on%20top%20of%20the%20casserole%20and%20bake%20an%20additional%2030%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELet%20sit%20for%205%20minutes%20and%20then%20cut%20into%20squares%20to%20serve.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETop%20with%20dollop%20of%20sour%20cream.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENotes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdjust%20the%20heat%20of%20the%20finished%20dish%20by%20the%20number%20of%20jalapeno%20peppers%20you%20use%20in%20the%20tomato%20sauce.%20I%20used%202%20and%20thought%20it%20was%20perfect%20when%20accompanied%20with%20the%20sour%20cream%20but%20it%20is%20certainly%20spicy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20prefer%20less%20heat%20than%20normal;%20stick%20to%20just%20one%20jalapeno%20in%20the%20sauce.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.2%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ehttp://www.creative-culinary.com/chili-relleno-casserole/%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20recipe%20brought%20to%20you%20by%20Creative%20Culinary%20%7C%20A%20F
