%20for%20the%20critters%20to%20munch%20on%20or%20throw%20them%20onto%20the%20compost%20pile!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut,%20the%20question%20still%20remained,%20NOW%20WHAT?%20I%E2%80%99d%20like%20to%20make%20a%20cobbler%20%E2%80%A6%20down%20the%20road.%20Kids%20would%20like%20smoothies%20%E2%80%A6%20down%20the%20road.%20Perhaps%20peach%20ice%20cream,%20or%20in%20a%20cake,%20or%20mini%20peach%20pies,%20oh,%20and%20peach%20salsa%20%E2%80%A6%20the%20possibilities%20are%20endless.%20BUT%20NOT%20TODAY!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20could%20FREEZE%20them!%20But%20how.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20just%20slice%20them%20and%20freeze%20them,%20you%20end%20up%20with%20a%20gigantic%20peach%20pop,%20all%20the%20slices%20frozen%20together%20and%20useless.%20Most%20importantly,%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20want%20to%20boil%20them%20or%20cook%20them.%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20want%20to%20peel%20all%20of%20them%20now.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20solution%20was,%20slice%20them,%20a%20little%20sugar%20and%20lemon%20to%20keep%20them%20from%20turning%20color%20or%20to%20be%20too%20bruised%20from%20being%20in%20the%20freezer.%20We%E2%80%99ll%20see%20how%20this%20pans%20out.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWith%20a%20sharp%20paring%20knife,%20cut%20the%20peach%20all%20the%20way%20around.%20You%20want%20to%20hit%20the%20pit%20as%20you%E2%80%99re%20cutting.%20Hold%20each%20half%20of%20the%20peach%20and%20gently%20twist%20in%20opposite%20directions.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20peach%20should%20easily%20turn%20and%20separate%20with%20a%20gentle%20pull.%20If%20it%20doesn%E2%80%99t,%20you%20may%20not%20have%20cut%20deeply%20enough%20OR%20the%20peach%20is%20not%20ripe%20enough.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20easiest%20way%20we%20found%20to%20cut%20the%201/2%20of%20the%20peach%20with%20the%20pit%20still%20in%20it,%20is%20to%20make%20angled%20slices%20hitting%20the%20pit.%20Then,%20pluck%20each%20slice%20off.%20This%20is%20much%20easier%20then%20trying%20to%20dig%20out%20the%20pit.%20You%20can%20see%20my%20dear%20helper%20had%20the%20same%20thought!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20large%20bowl,%20place%20the%20slices%20from%204-5%20peaches,%20sprinkle%20with%20about%201%20tablespoon%20of%20sugar%20and%20a%20good%20splash%20of%20lemon%20juice.%20It%E2%80%99s%20easier%20to%20toss%20them%20with%20the%20sugar%20and%20lemon%20if%20there%20isn%E2%80%99t%20an%20unwieldy%20amount%20of%20sliced%20peaches%20in%20the%20bowl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20parchment%20paper%20lined%20baking%20sheet,%20line%20the%20slices%20up,%20so%20they%20are%20just%20shy%20of%20touching.%20Repeat%20all%20the%20steps%20until%20you%E2%80%99ve%20filled%20as%20many%20baking%20sheets%20as%20will%20fit%20in%20your%20freezer.%20For%20us,%20it%20was%20two%20at%20a%20time.%20so%20we%20repeated%20this%20a%20couple%20of%20times.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESet%20on%20a%20flat%20surface%20in%20your%20freezer%20and%20freeze%20until%20peach%20slices%20are%20hard.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECarefully,%20and%20quickly%20so%20they%20don%E2%80%99t%20thaw,%20remove%20the%20peaches%20from%20the%20parchment%20paper.%20Pack%20into%20freezer%20bags.%20I%20marked%20the%20date%20they%20went%20into%20the%20deep%20freeze%20on%20the%20bag.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20the%20bags%20in%20your%20freezer!%20TA-DA!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELike%20Loading...%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
