%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20other%20day,%20I%20was%20looking%20through%20my%20random%20recipe%20notes%20(ie%20Post-Its%20of%20various%20recipe%20thoughts%20stuck%20in%20a%20notepad)%20and%20spotted%20one%20with%20just%20'Balsamic%20Beef'%20on%20it.%20I%20really%20can't%20remember%20where%20that%20came%20from%20or%20why%20I%20felt%20compelled%20to%20jot%20that%20down.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EKnowing%20me,%20I%20probably%20just%20liked%20the%20alliteration%20of%20it.%20(Yes,%20I%20really%20can%20be%20that%20simple.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBalsamic%20vinegar%20can%20seem%20quite%20thick%20at%20first%20pour,%20but%20don't%20worry%20too%20much%20when%20using%20it%20as%20a%20marinade%20for%20meat.%20It%20thins%20down%20quite%20well%20in%20cooking,%20and%20has%20a%20lovely%20sweet%20taste%20to%20it.%20There%20is%20a%20good%20pinch%20of%20paprika%20in%20this%20too,%20to%20add%20a%20bit%20of%20smokiness.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo,%20'Balsamic%20Beef'%20-%20it%20might%20not%20look%20good,%20but%20I%20hope%20I%20at%20least%20made%20it%20sound%20good..!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20Add%20the%20chopped%20potato%20in%20a%20pan%20of%20water%20and%20bring%20to%20the%20boil.%20Turn%20down%20to%20the%20lowest%20heat%20and%20leave%20to%20simmer%20for%20about%2010%20minutes%20or%20until%20just%20cooked.%20Drain,%20mash%20and%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20Mix%20together%20the%20balsamic%20vinegar,%20paprika,%20honey%20and%20half%20the%20oil%20in%20a%20large%20bowl.%20Add%20the%20mince%20and%20mix%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.%20Preheat%20the%20oven%20to%20180%20degrees%20C.%20In%20a%20saucepan,%20add%20the%20remaining%20oil,%20followed%20by%20the%20beef%20to%20brown.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4.%20Add%20all%20of%20the%20veg,%20mixing%20everything%20together%20well,%20for%20about%205%20minutes.%20Pour%20in%20the%20hot%20stock%20and%20leave%20to%20simmer%20for%20a%20few%20more%20minutes.%20Transfer%20to%20a%208%22%20pie%20dish.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E5.%20Spoon%20the%20mashed%20potato%20on%20top,%20then%20bake%20in%20the%20oven%20for%20about%20half%20an%20hour%20or%20until%20the%20top%20just%20starts%20to%20crisp.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPie%20out.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERead%20my%20other%20Friday%20Pie%20Day%20adventures.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOther%20beefy%20recipes%20you%20might%20enjoy.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
