Fried Chocolate Pies

Ingredientes

  • 2 c. sifted all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 c. shortening
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. cocoa pwdr
  • Stick butter
  • Shortening or possibly oil for frying

Direcciones

  1. Sift flour and salt together. Put together 1/3 cup flour mix and water to make a paste. Cut shortening into remaining flour with a fork or possibly pastry cutter till mix resembles coarse meal. Add in flour paste and mix. Roll into a ball and refrigerate. Put together sugar and cocoa pwdr, mixing thoroughly. Pinch off small pcs of dough and roll into saucer size circles about 1/8" thick. Trim edges to make neat circles. Place about 2 or possibly 3 tbsp cocoa mix on half of each pastry circle. Top with 3 thin slices butter and fold other half of pastry circle over top. Seal edges with fork. Heat a small amount of oil or possibly shortening over medium-high heat in a heavy frying pan and fry pies, a couple at a time, till golden, serve warm.
