%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(Pictures%20by%20me%20and%20Jimmages%20Photography)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENikki%20decided%20to%20do%20a%20cookbook%20featuring%20classic%20family%20dessert%20recipes%20in%20conjunction%20with%20a%20dessert%20bar%20at%20her%20wedding%20as%20a%20favor.%20She%20got%20small%20white%20boxes%20from%20Uline,%20added%20a%20polka%20dot%20tissue%20paper%20and%20tied%20a%20coordinating%20ribbon%20around%20them.%20The%20%E2%80%9Cthank%20you%E2%80%9D%20tag%20ties%20in%20to%20the%20tag%20from%20her%20invitation%20suite.%20The%20paper%20products%20really%20tied%20the%20look%20of%20the%20whole%20wedding%20together.%20The%20cookbook%20was%20a%203x4%20twelve%20page%20booklet%20that%20Nikki%20designed%20titled%20Love%20is%20Sweet.%20Inside%20the%20front%20cover,%20she%20wrote%20a%20thank%20you%20to%20the%20guests%20and%20prompted%20guests%20to%20fill%20the%20box%20at%20the%20dessert%20bar.%20The%20empty%20boxes%20were%20placed%20at%20each%20place%20setting.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(Picture%20by%20Amy%20Barry%20Photography)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20dessert%20bar%20featured%20Nikki%20and%20her%20husband%E2%80%99s%20favorite%20family%20recipes%20close%20family%20members.%20Nikki%20designed%20coordinating%20labels%20to%20go%20along%20with%20clever%20titles%20for%20each%20dessert.%20Using%20several%20different%20cookie%20jars%20and%20platters%20added%20aesthetical%20interest%20to%20the%20dessert%20bar%20and%20the%20cute%20signs%20tied%20everything%20together.%20She%20used%20cookie%20jars%20from%20Target,%20an%20Anchor%20Hocking%203-tier%20cupcake%20stand,%20and%20silver%20chargers.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(Pictures%20by%20Amy%20Barry%20Photography)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20dessert%20bar%20included:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMother%20of%20the%20Groom%E2%80%99s%20Famous%20Banana%20Bread%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMother%20of%20the%20Bride%E2%80%99s%20Sweet%20Snickerdoodles%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGrammie%E2%80%99s%20Rich%207-layer%20Bars%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGrandma%20Mo%E2%80%99s%20Salty%20Ranch%20Pretzels%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGrandma%20Kress%E2%80%99s%20Decadent%20German%20Chocolate%20Cupcake%20Bites%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMother%20of%20the%20Groom%E2%80%99s%20Chunky%20Chocolate%20Pecan%20Cookies%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGrandma%20Tootie%E2%80%99s%20Awesome%20Oatmeal%20Raisin%20Cookies%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAunt%20Sue%E2%80%99s%20Crunchy%20Peanut%20Bars%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20not%20all%20of%20these%20wonderful%20people%20are%20still%20here,%20we%20all%20still%20remember%20the%20recipes.%20These%20were%20desserts%20that%20showed%20up%20at%20major%20family%20events%20or%20they%20were%20always%20there%20when%20you%20showed%20up%20at%20grandma%E2%80%99s%20house.%20My%20mom%20and%20I%20made%20several%20of%20the%20recipes%20including%20the%20snickerdoodles,%20the%20oatmeal%20raisin%20cookies%20and%20the%20German%20Chocolate%20Cupcake%20Bites.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(Pictures%20by%20Amy%20Barry%20Photography)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99ve%20posted%20all%20of%20these%20recipes%20before%20but%20I%20wanted%20to%20tell%20you%20about%20the%20slight%20changes%20I%20made%20to%20the%20German%20Chocolate%20Cupcake%20Bites%20this%20time%20around.%20I%20used%20the%20same%20recipe%20but%20when%20I%20made%20the%20frosting,%20I%20left%20out%20the%20chopped%20pecans.%20Instead%20I%20frosted%20the%20cupcakes%20and%20then%20used%20pecan%20halves%20to%20top%20each%20one.%20This%20made%20for%20a%20much%20more%20polished%20look%20for%20the%20cupcakes,%20really%20making%20the%20presentation%20much%20better%20since%20the%20custard%20frosting%20can%E2%80%99t%20be%20piped%20like%20a%20traditional%20buttercream.%20I%20also%20baked%20the%20cupcakes%20in%20plain%20white%20liners%20and%20then%20dropped%20them%20into%20decorative%20blue%20gingham%20liners%20to%20match%20the%20wedding%20colors.%20If%20I%20would%20have%20baked%20the%20cupcakes%20in%20the%20blue%20liners,%20the%20chocolate%20cake%20would%20show%20through%20too%20much%20and%20you%20wouldn%E2%80%99t%20notice%20the%20pattern.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(Pictures%20by%20Jimmages%20Photography%20and%20me)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESince%20I've%20posted%20all%20the%20recipes%20we%20made%20before,%20I'm%20going%20to%20give%20you%20the%20recipe%20for%20the%20mother%20of%20the%20groom's%20famous%20banana%20bread,%20which%20we%20served%20in%20mini-muffin%20form%20on%20the%20dessert%20bar.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBanana%20Bread%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFamily%20recipe%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20350%20degrees%20and%20prepare%20pans.%20Cream%20together%20the%20sugar%20and%20oil%20in%20a%20large%20mixing%20bowl,%20add%20eggs,%20milk,%20vanilla%20and%20mashed%20bananas.%20Mix%20well.%20Sift%20together%20dry%20ingredients%20and%20add%20to%20wet%20mix.%20Mix%20just%20until%20well%20combined.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20make%20bars,%20pour%20into%20a%20greased%209x13%20pan%20and%20bake%20for%20approximately%2040%20minutes.%20To%20make%20mini%20muffins,%20grease%20muffin%20tins%20and%20bake%20for%20approximately%2015-20%20minutes%20until%20golden%20brown%20and%20the%20tops%20spring%20back%20when%20touched.%20Cool%20completely%20and%20serve.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
