%20lets%20me%20at%20least%20bring%20up%20the%20subject%20of%20Christmas%20without%20throwing%20something%20at%20me.%20But%20with%20all%20the%20molasses-ing%20and%20ginger-ing%20and%20cookie-ing%20of%20various%20sorts,%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20play%20with%20peppermint%20until%20last%20weekend.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd,%20oh,%20what%20a%20weekend.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBefore%20the%20dairy%20concerns%20got%20super-serious%20in%20my%20life,%20York%20Peppermint%20Patties%20were%20one%20of%20my%20favorite%20candies,%20and%20I%20still%20get%20a%20little%20jealous%20at%20the%20commercials%20featuring%20a%20solo%20person%20at%20the%20precise%20moment%20of%20fresh%20peppermint%20overload%20when%20the%20creamy%20middle%20layer%20explodes%20on%20their%20tongue.%20I%20wanted%20it%20back,%20bad.%20These%20little%20bars%20beat%20the%20pants%20outta%20York.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESorry,%20York.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThey%E2%80%99re%20a%20simple,%20sturdy%20brownie%20(that%E2%80%99s%20awesome%20on%20its%20own)%20laced%20with%20peppermint%20oil%20and%20studded%20with%20mini%20chocolate%20chips.%20Then%20a%20thick%20peppermint%20butter%20cream%20is%20layered%20thinly%20on%20top,%20followed%20by%20a%20smattering%20of%20crushed%20candy%20canes,%20some%20melted%20dark%20chocolate%20and%20another%20smattering%20of%20candy.%20They%E2%80%99re%20so%20full%20of%20flavor%20that%20a%20thin%20little%20wedge%20is%20plenty,%20for%20sweet/fresh%20overload.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENothing%20is%20hard%20about%20the%20recipe,%20but%20the%20cooling%20processes%20between%20layers%20takes%20planning.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHo-ho-ho%20and%20stuff%E2%80%A6%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E-%20Jacqueline%20xoxo%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%7Bgluten-free%7D%20Peppermint%20Patty%20Brownie%20Bars%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMakes%2030%20bars.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20brownies:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20350%20and%20grease%20and%20flour%20a%207%20x%2011%E2%80%B3%20cake%20pan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20small%20bowl,%20whisk%20flour,%20gum%20and%20salt.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20small%20bowl,%20melt%20brownie%20butter%20and%20chocolate%20in%20the%20microwave%20in%2030%20second%20bursts,%20stirring%20in%20between,%20until%20the%20chocolate%20is%20almost%20melted,%20using%20a%20fork%20finally%20to%20melt%20altogether%20(rather%20than%20more%20time%20in%20the%20microwave,%20which%20puts%20it%20at%20risk%20of%20burning).%20Set%20aside%20to%20cool%20slightly.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20the%20bowl%20of%20a%20mixer%20with%20the%20whisk%20attachment,%20beat%20eggs%20until%20foamy.%20Add%20the%20sugar%20and%20mix%20on%20low%20to%20combine.%20With%20the%20beater%20running,%20slowly%20stream%20in%20melted%20butter/chocolate%20mixture,%20then%20add%20dry%20ingredients%20until%20just%20combined.%20Fold%20in%20chocolate%20chips.%20Pour%20into%20prepared%20pan%20and%20bake%2030-35%20minutes,%20until%20a%20fork%20inserted%20in%20the%20center%20of%20the%20pan%20comes%20out%20clean.%20Cool%20completely.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20peppermint%20patty%20layer,%20beat%20all%20ingredients%20together%20until%20smooth.%20When%20the%20brownies%20are%20cool,%20spread%20the%20peppermint%20patty%20in%20a%20very%20thin%20layer%20across%20them.%20Sprinkle%20about%201/3%20of%20the%20crushed%20candy%20canes%20over%20the%20top%20evenly,%20and%20press%20down%20gently%20to%20sink%20them%20in.%20Refrigerate%20brownies%20until%20the%20peppermint%20layer%20is%20firm.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20glaze,%20melt%20remaining%20butter%20and%20chocolate%20in%20microwave%20again%20in%2030%20second%20bursts,%20stirring%20to%20combine%20completely.%20Spread%20evenly%20over%20chilled%20brownie.%20Scatter%20with%20remaining%20crushed%20candy%20canes.%20Return%20to%20refrigerator%20to%20chill%20until%20firm.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESlice%20into%203%20long%20rows%20and%20then%20into%2010%20across,%20for%20a%20total%20of%2030%20bars.%20Serve%20cold%20%E2%80%93%20or%20frozen!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBars%20will%20keep%20refrigerated%20for%20a%20week,%20then%20will%20still%20be%20edible%20but%20will%20start%20to%20get%20grainy%20and%20separate%20a%20tad.%20Within%20four%20days%20is%20best!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELike%20Loading...%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
