.%20%20In%20all%20the%20excitement%20of%20watching%20my%20little%20boy%20go%20from%20newborn%20to%20smiley%20guy,%20I%20feel%20like%20summer%20never%20happened.%20Now%20it%E2%80%99s%20September%20and%20I%20can%20hardly%20believe%20it.%20%20It%E2%80%99s%20hard%20to%20completely%20let%20go%20of%20summer%20when%20you%20feel%20like%20it%20never%20happened,%20but%20also%20when%20there%20are%20still%20beautiful%20tomatoes%20and%20summer%20squash%20at%20the%20farmer%E2%80%99s%20market%20and%20in%20the%20CSA%20box.%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20care%20what%20the%20calendar%20says.%20But%20looking%20at%20all%20the%20fall%20issues%20of%20food%20magazines%20got%20me%20craving%20sweet%20potatoes,%20pumpkin,%20and%20other%20fall%20produce.%20I%20decide%20to%20create%20an%20%E2%80%9Cin%20between%20seasons%E2%80%9D%20dinner%20%E2%80%94%20steaks,%20tomatoes,%20and%20zucchini%20on%20the%20grill,%20and%20a%20sweet%20potato%20side-dish%20in%20the%20oven.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFine%20Cooking%20helped%20inspire%20me.%20%20In%20their%20Cooking%20by%20the%20Calendar%20article,%20they%20featured%20a%20late-summer%20meal%20that%20involved%20a%20quick%20grilled%20steak,%20brushed%20with%20a%20mixture%20of%20mustard,%20brown%20sugar,%20salt%20&%20pepper.%20We%20used%20that%20marinade%20on%20a%20new%20york%20steak.%20Then%20Dustin%20found%20some%20beautiful%20heirloom%20tomatoes%20that%20we%20halved%20and%20grilled%20for%20just%20a%20few%20minutes,%20giving%20them%20a%20delicious%20smoky%20flavor,%20while%20preserving%20their%20tomato%20essence.%20The%20summer%20squash%20was%20locally%20grown%20and%20a%20nice%20companion%20for%20the%20tomatoes.%20The%20sweet%20potatoes%20taste%20like%20my%20favorite%20ravioli%20dish,%20without%20the%20ravioli.%20Roasted%20sweet%20potato%20cubes%20are%20tossed%20with%20brown%20butter%20&%20sage.%20This%20might%20be%20my%20new%20fall%20side%20dish!%20The%20entire%20meal%20was%20flavorful,%20colorful,%20and%20bridged%20the%20gap%20between%20summer%20and%20fall.%20Now%20I%20think%20I%20can%20bid%20farewell%20until%20next%20year.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPrepare%20a%20medium-high%20heat%20charcoal%20grill.%20In%20a%20small%20bowl,%20combine%201%20TBS.%20of%20the%20oil,%20the%20mustard,%20brown%20sugar,%20and%20some%20salt%20&%20pepper.%20Brush%20all%20over%20the%20steak%20and%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDrizzle%20and%20rub%20the%20cut%20tomatoes%20and%20squash%20with%20olive%20oil,%20and%20season%20with%20salt%20&%20pepper.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGrill%20the%20steak,%20flipping%20once,%20until%20medium%20rare%20(until%20the%20steak%20reaches%20130%20to%20135%20degrees).%20Transfer%20to%20a%20plate,%20cover%20with%20foil,%20and%20let%20rest.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGrill%20the%20%20squash%20and%20the%20tomatoes,%20cut%20side-down%20for%20a%20few%20minutes,%20until%20some%20nice%20grill%20marks%20form.%20Take%20the%20tomatoes%20off%20the%20grill,%20and%20cook%20the%20squash%20just%20a%20few%20minutes%20longer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESlice%20the%20steak%20against%20the%20grain%20and%20serve%20next%20to%20the%20tomatoes%20and%20squash,%20and%20these%20delicious%20roasted%20sweet%20potatoes%20with%20brown%20butter%20and%20sage.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERoasted%20Sweet%20Potatoes%20with%20Brown%20Butter%20&%20Sage%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(Adapted%20from%20the%20Oct./Nov.%20issue%20of%20Fine%20Cooking)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20sweet%20potatoes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eextra%20virgin%20olive%20oil%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ekosher%20salt%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Efresh%20sage%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ebutter%20(about%202%20TBS)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Esplash%20of%20orange%20juice%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPeel%20the%20sweet%20potatoes%20and%20cut%20into%20bite-sized%20cubes.%20Toss%20with%20olive%20oil%20and%20salt.%20Roast%20in%20a%20400%20degree%20oven%20until%20tender.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMeanwhile,%20cook%20chopped%20fresh%20sage%20and%20a%20pinch%20of%20salt%20in%20melted%20butter%20until%20butter%20browns.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20a%20splash%20of%20orange%20juice%20(or%20a%20squeeze%20of%20lemon,%20if%20you%20have%20one)%20and%20toss%20with%20the%20potatoes.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
