Gourmet White Wine And Gruyere Casserole

Ingredientes

  • 1 x garlic clove crushed
  • 1/4 c. softened butter - (1/2 stick)
  • 6 slc stale bread crusts removed
  • 3 x Large eggs
  • 1 c. dry white wine
  • 1/2 c. chicken stock
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp prepared mustard
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 dsh cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 lb grated Gruyere cheese - (2 c.)
  • 2 x green onions, tops only minced

Direcciones

  1. Heat the oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Blend the garlic with the butter; butter one side of the bread and cut it in strips to fit a 1- or possibly 1 1/2-qt shallow casserole. Line the bottom and sides of the casserole with the bread, butter-side down.
  3. Beat the Large eggs lightly, then add in the wine, stock, Worcestershire sauce, salt, mustard, paprika and cayenne pepper, beating gently.
  4. Gradually beat in the cheese and onion tops. Pour the mix over the bread. Bake till the custard is hard, about 1 hour.
  5. This recipe yields 4 to 6 servings.
