%20and%20lets%20not%20forget%20how%20good%20yogurt%20is%20for%20our%20digestive%20systems.%20Anyway,%20I%20switched%20my%20family%20over%20to%20greek%20yogurt%20a%20few%20months%20back%20but%20as%20many%20of%20you%20may%20know%20it%20is%20really%20pricey%20especially%20for%20those%20of%20us%20on%20a%20tight%20budget.%20So%20I%20was%20so%20happy%20to%20find%20a%20recipe%20to%20make%20yogurt%20or%20greek%20yogurt%20at%20home%20on%20one%20of%20my%20friends%20blogs.%20Go%20here%20to%20see%20her%20blog%20she%20has%20a%20lot%20of%20%20great%20recipes%20and%20info%20on%20there!!%20I%20tried%20it%20out%20last%20night%20and%20it%20was%20so%20easy%20and%20so%20cheap%20and%20so%20creamy%20and%20yummy.%20All%20it%20takes%20is%20time%20people%20so%20you%20have%20to%20be%20patient%20but%20it%20couldn't%20be%20easier!!%20%20It%20is%20so%20important%20for%20us%20all%20to%20be%20more%20self%20sufficient%20so%20get%20up%20and%20make%20yourself%20some%20yogurt!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECrockpot%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eblanket%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ethermometer%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Emesh%20colander/strainer%20and%20cheesecloth%20or%20I%20used%20a%20flour%20sack%20towel(cause%20I%20didn't%20want%20to%20have%20to%20spend%20money%20on%20cheesecloth)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20your%20milk%20into%20your%20crockpot.(I%20have%20a%204%20qt%20one%20that%20I%20used%20if%20you%20want%20to%20make%20more%20yogurt%20use%20your%20bigger%20crockpot%20just%20make%20sure%20your%20milk%20and%20yogurt%20ratio%20match%20up)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20the%20milk%20until%20it%20reaches%20180%20degrees(this%20took%20about%202%20hrs%20for%20me)%20when%20it%20reaches%20180%20unplug%20your%20crock,%20take%20the%20lid%20off%20and%20let%20cool%20until%20it%20is%20around%20110%20degrees.%20In%20a%20seperate%20bowl%20mix%20together%20the%20plain%20yogurt%20and%20powdered%20milk%20and%20stir%20well.%20When%20your%20milk%20reaches%20110,%20add%20your%20yogurt%20mixture%20and%20stir%20well.%20Place%20the%20lid%20back%20on%20and%20wrap%20the%20crockpot%20in%20a%20blanket%20till%20it%20is%20all%20covered%20with%20it.%20Let%20it%20sit%20on%20the%20counter%20for%20about%206%20hours(i%20only%20had%20to%20let%20mine%20sit%20for%205)just%20until%20it%20is%20thick%20like%20yogurt.%20You%20will%20notice%20a%20watery%20substance%20on%20the%20top,%20this%20is%20the%20whey%20You%20can%20mix%20it%20in%20and%20put%20your%20yogurt%20in%20the%20fridge%20and%20it%20is%20ready%20to%20eat%20when%20chillled.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20want%20Greek%20Yogurt%20you%20will%20need%20to%20place%20your%20flour%20sack%20towle%20or%20a%20couple%20layers%20of%20cheesecloth%20in%20a%20mesh%20strainer%20and%20place%20it%20over%20a%20bowl.%20Pour%20your%20yogurt%20into%20the%20lined%20strainer,%20put%20it%20in%20the%20fridge%20and%20let%20some%20of%20the%20whey%20strain%20out.%20Check%20it%20after%20a%20few%20hours%20to%20see%20if%20it%20is%20thick%20enough%20and%20if%20not,%20let%20it%20sit%20and%20strain%20some%20more.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20can%20make%20the%20yogurt%20or%20greek%20yogurt%20exactly%20how%20you%20like%20it.%20Add%20pureed%20fruit%20to%20it%20or%20chopped%20up%20berries%20or%20add%20a%20little%20agave%20or%20honey%20for%20sweetness%20because%20it%20is%20plain%20yogurt%20and%20will%20be%20a%20bit%20sour.%20I%20added%20honey%20and%20pure%20vanilla%20extract%20to%20mine%20and%20it%20was%20wonderful.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETHis%20is%20how%20I%20ate%20if%20for%20breakfast%20with%20a%20little%20sprinkle%20of%20granola%20and%20a%20cut%20up%20banana.%20So%20good%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20what%20it%20looks%20like.%20believe%20me%20it%20is%20really%20creamy%20and%20smooth%20despite%20what%20the%20picture%20looks%20like%20and%20if%20you%20want%20it%20to%20look%20really%20smooth%20just%20whip%20it%20with%20a%20wire%20whisk%20for%20a%20few%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOh%20and%20don't%20throw%20your%20whey%20away.%20The%20liquid%20left%20in%20the%20bowl%20use%20it%20to%20replace%20the%20liquid%20in%20your%20bread%20or%20pancake%20recipes%20or%20to%20replace%20the%20buttermilk%20in%20biscuit%20recipes.%20Or%20add%20to%20smoothies.%20This%20stuff%20is%20oh%20so%20good%20and%20protein%20packed%20as%20well!!!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
