manning%20the%20grill.%20Why%20shouldn't%20we?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDon't%20get%20me%20wrong--I%20won't%20complain%20when%20my%20stepdad,%20brothers,%20or%20boyfriend%20volunteer%20to%20hover%20over%20the%20smoke%20to%20make%20me%20supper.%20I%20just%20mean%20that%20every%20now%20and%20then,%20I%20like%20to%20handle%20things%20myself.%20While%20we%20currently%20don't%20have%20an%20outdoor%20grill%20or%20even%20a%20place%20to%20use%20one,%20I%20do%20have%20my%20trusty%20Rachael%20Ray%20cast%20iron%20grill.%20I%20also%20have%20some%20fantastic%20OXO%20products,%20including%20a%20bladed%20meat%20tenderizer,%20a%20silicone%20basting%20brush,%20a%20corn%20stripper,%20and%20some%20super%20useful%20BBQ%20tongs.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo,%20what%20do%20I%20like%20to%20grill?%20I'm%20still%20learning,%20so%20right%20now%20my%20specialties%20include%20corn%20on%20the%20cob,%20hot%20dogs,%20and%20hamburgers,%20though%20I%20have%20attempted%20some%20steak.%20I'm%20not%20exaggerating%20when%20I%20say%20I%20could%20eat%20grilled%20corn%20with%20every%20meal--it%20can%20be%20SO%20good.%20On%20the%20flip%20side,%20however,%20I%20find%20that%20there%20aren't%20many%20things%20more%20disappointing%20than%20getting%20home%20from%20the%20market%20or%20store%20to%20find%20that%20the%20ears%20you've%20selected%20are%20nearly%20all%20mealy%20or%20wormy.%20Boo!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20the%20grill%20to%20medium.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20the%20ears%20of%20corn%20have%20many%20layers%20of%20husk%20on%20them,%20peel%20off%20only%20the%20first%20couple%20of%20layers,%20leaving%20a%20few%20layers%20for%20protection.%20Do%20not%20remove%20all%20the%20layers.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESoak%20the%20whole%20cobs%20in%20a%20pot%20of%20salted%20cold%20water%20for%2015-30%20minutes.%20Be%20sure%20the%20ears%20are%20completely%20covered%20with%20water.%20This%20will%20provide%20extra%20moisture%20for%20cooking%20and%20will%20steam%20the%20corn%20kernels%20inside%20the%20husks.%20After%20soaking,%20remove%20the%20corn%20from%20the%20water%20and%20shake%20off%20any%20excess%20water.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBegin%20by%20pulling%20the%20husks%20of%20the%20corn%20back%20(but%20do%20not%20completely%20remove%20them).%20Remove%20and%20discard%20only%20the%20silk.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBrush%20the%20kernels%20with%20olive%20oil.%20While%20you%20can%20use%20butter,%20I%20don't%20recommend%20it%20(especially%20indoors)%20since%20it%20burns%20quite%20easily%20and%20will%20create%20a%20LOT%20of%20smoke.%20I%20like%20to%20apply%20the%20butter%20at%20the%20end.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20the%20prepared%20ears%20of%20corn%20on%20the%20grill,%20rotating%20the%20corn%20as%20needed%20to%20keep%20it%20from%20getting%20charred%20too%20much%20on%20one%20side.%20Allow%20the%20corn%20to%20slowly%20continue%20cooking%20for%20approximately%2015%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20soon%20as%20the%20husk%20picks%20up%20the%20dark%20silhouette%20of%20the%20kernels%20and%20begins%20to%20pull%20away%20from%20the%20tip%20of%20the%20ear,%20the%20corn%20is%20ready%20to%20come%20off%20the%20grill.%20Remove%20the%20corn%20from%20the%20grill.%20Be%20careful%20and%20wear%20oven%20mitts%20(or%20BBQ%20tongs!)%20as%20the%20corn%20will%20be%20very%20hot!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGrasping%20one%20end%20with%20a%20oven%20mitt%20or%20dish%20towel,%20peel%20the%20husks%20and%20silk%20from%20the%20top%20down%20(like%20a%20banana)--they%20should%20all%20come%20off%20in%20one%20piece.%20At%20this%20point,%20I%20like%20to%20pop%20the%20stripped%20cobs%20back%20onto%20the%20grill%20for%20a%20little%20bit%20of%20char%20action,%20but%20you%20definitely%20don't%20have%20to%20do%20that;%20the%20corn%20is%20ready%20to%20eat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServe%20with%20butter%20and%20salt%20(and%20any%20other%20condiments%20you%20like)%20and%20enjoy!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
