%20having%20only%201/2%20pound%20of%20shrimp%20left%20by%20the%20time%20I%20stopped%20by%20to%20shop,%20so,%20along%20with%20the%20shrimp,%20I%20got%201/2%20pound%20scallops.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20week%20before,%20I%20found%20and%20used%20a%20really%20lovely%20marinade%20for%20shrimp%20to%20be%20grilled%20in%20their%20shell.%20%20By%20the%20way,%20grilling%20in%20the%20shell%20does%20make%20for%20some%20great%20flavor!%20%20But%20this%20week,%20I%20figured%20I%E2%80%99d%20peel%20the%20shrimp%20since%20it%20would%20be%20grilled%20with%20the%20scallops%20and,%20as%20much%20as%20I%20love%20the%20flavor%20of%20shrimp%20and%20scallop%20on%20their%20own,%20I%20thought%20this%20would%20be%20a%20good%20time%20to%20try%20adding%20a%20bit%20stronger%20flavor.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20usual,%20the%20Internet%20came%20to%20the%20rescue%20with%20a%20great%20glaze%20recipe%20that%20conveniently%20called%20for%20the%20exact%201/2%20pound%20each%20of%20shrimp%20and%20scallops%20that%20I%20had%20purchased.%20I%20followed%20it%20exactly%20except%20for%20substituting%20lemon%20juice%20and%20zest%20for%20the%20lime%20because%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20feel%20like%20going%20to%20Farmland%20for%20just%20a%20lime!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20the%20grill%20before%20the%20glaze.%20I%20think%20we%E2%80%99ll%20forgo%20the%20skewers%20next%20time!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eskewers%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPeel%20the%20fresh%20ginger%20by%20scraping%20it%20with%20the%20edge%20of%20a%20spoon%20and%20then%20grate%20or%20mince.%20%20I%20like%20to%20grate%20the%20ginger%20using%20a%20micro-planer.%20%20We%20need%20about%201%20tablespoon%20of%20finely%20minced%20ginger.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20the%20honey,%20soy,%20ginger,%20lime%20juice%20and%20zest%20in%20a%20small%20sauce%20pan%20and%20bring%20to%20a%20simmer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESimmer%20the%20lime,%20soy%20and%20ginger%20under%20low%20heat%20for%20about%2010%20minutes%20to%20reduce%20to%20a%20glaze.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20grill%20to%20high%20heat%20and%20clean%20and%20oil%20the%20grates%20(important%20to%20lube%20up%20the%20grates,%20we%20don%E2%80%99t%20want%20to%20have%20to%20pry%20off%20one%20of%20those%20beautiful%20shellfish!).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESkewer%20the%20shrimp%20and%20scallops.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20the%20shrimp%20and%20scallop%20skewers%20over%20high%20heat%20and%20grill%20with%20the%20lid%20open%20for%20about%202%20or%203%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFlip%20the%20skewers%20over%20to%20the%20other%20side%20and%20baste%20the%20shrimp%20and%20scallops%20with%20the%20soy,%20lime%20and%20ginger%20glaze.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGrill%20for%20another%203%20minutes%20on%20the%20other%20side%20and%20then%20flip%20the%20skewers%20over.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBrush%20the%20other%20side%20with%20the%20glaze%20and%20then%20remove%20the%20skewers%20from%20the%20grill.%20%20We%20just%20want%20to%20hit%20the%20other%20side%20with%20the%20glaze,%20but%20don%E2%80%99t%20let%20them%20grill%20too%20long%20on%20the%20%E2%80%9Cglazed%E2%80%9D%20side%20or%20the%20honey%20will%20burn.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*%20On%20the%20advice%20I%20found%20online,%20I%20added%20just%20a%20bit%20more%20lemon%20juice%20and%20zest%20than%20the%20amount%20of%20lime%20called%20for%20in%20the%20recipe%20and%20it%20worked%20beautifully.%20%20However,%20I%20intend%20to%20try%20this%20with%20the%20lime%20next%20time%20to%20get%20the%20full%20effect.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20I%20determined%20the%20flavoring%20for%20the%20seafood,%20I%20realized%20that%20my%20original%20plan%20of%20using%20some%20just%20picked%20tomatoes%20(from%20Farmer%20Dave%20at%20our%20farmers%20market)%20would%20not%20work,%20although%20I%20was%20determined%20to%20use%20some%20of%20the%20wonderful%20arugula%20I%20had%20also%20gotten%20at%20our%20market%20that%20morning%20from%20Flats%20Mentor%20Farm.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20knew%20I%20needed%20sweet%20and%20a%20bit%20of%20tang%20to%20go%20with%20the%20glaze%20and%20had%20an%20AHA!%20moment%20when%20my%20eyes%20lit%20upon%20the%20fresh,%20peaches%20at%20perfect%20ripeness%20I%20has%20also%20gotten%20from%20Farmer%20Dave%20that%20morning.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20the%20glaze%20was%20simmering,%20I%20rinsed%20and%20spun%20dry%20the%20arugula,%20sliced%20up%20some%20peaches,%20and%20put%20them%20together,%20adding%20a%20very%20light%20sprinkling%20of%20lemon%20juice,%20rice%20vinegar,%20and%20some%20freshly%20ground%20black%20pepper.%20%20I%20meant%20to%20add%20some%20olive%20oil%20but%20%E2%80%93%20oh%20well!%20%20Maybe%20next%20time.%20%20%3Cgrin%3E%20Actually,%20now%20that%20I%20think%20of%20it,%20olive%20oil%20would%20be%20too%20strong%20a%20flavor.%20%20Perhaps%20some%20canola%20oil%20would%20be%20nice.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlated,%20fresh%20off%20the%20grill.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20the%20seafood%20was%20off%20the%20grill,%20I%20put%20some%20salad%20on%20our%20plates%20and%20topped%20with%20the%20shrimp%20and%20scallops.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20really%20top%20it%20off,%20while%20preparing%20the%20meal%20I%20had%20just%20happened%20to%20have%20a%20glass%20of%20Three%20Sisters%20White%20Wine%20from%20Charlton%20Orchards%20that%20I%20had%20purchased%20at%20the%20market%20the%20week%20before%20%E2%80%A6I%20t%20was%20the%20PERFECT%20beverage%20to%20accompany!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20was%20truly%20an%20exquisite%20meal,%20light%20but%20satisfying,%20perfect%20for%20a%20hot%20summer%20evening.%20And%20so%20easy!%20It%20just%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20get%20much%20better%20than%20this!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThree%20Sisters%20White%20Wine%20completed%20the%20experience!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
