Ingredientes

  • 6 x onions halved and finely sliced
  • 1 x salt and black pepper
  • 2 x dry bay leaves grnd or possibly very finely crumbled
  • 30 gm beef dripping or possibly butter for frying
  • 1 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 tsp worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp tomato puree
  • 1 tsp anchovy essence (available from sainsbury's)
  • 1 Tbsp. mushroom ketchup optional 450ml guinness
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. wine vinegar

Direcciones

  1. Fry the sliced onions with the salt pepper and around bay leaves in the fat till well caramelised.
  2. Stir in the flour adding more fat if necessary and fry till the mix has turned a good brown colour.
  3. Stir in the flavouring ingredients then slowly add in the guinness sugar and wine vinegar and gently bubble together for about 5 min.
  4. Stir in 300ml water and bubble for a further 15 min.
  5. A gutsy gravy which goes with anything meaty especiallv when served with mash.
  6. Serves 4
