.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20weekend%20when%20we%20were%20trying%20to%20figure%20out%20what%20to%20eat,%20we%20both%20concluded%20that%20it%20should%20probably%20be%20pork.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETrue%20right?%20Well..unless%20you%20are%20adverse%20to%20pork,%20which%20we%20aren't.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%203%20ham%20roasts%20take%20up%20the%20most%20space%20in%20the%20freezer,%20so%20I%20decided%20to%20take%20one%20on.%20However,%20even%20though%20I%20love%20ham..I'm%20not%20very%20experienced%20with%20it.%20Deli%20ham,%20Christmas/Easter%20ham,%20Granny's%20ham%20salad%20(which%20isn't%20even%20ham,%20it's%20bologna)..I%20wasn't%20sure%20what%20I%20was%20getting%20myself%20into.%20So%20I%20called%20up%20my%20Dad%20and%20he%20told%20me%20to%20just%20cook%20it%20like%20a%20roast,%20b/c%20it%20IS%20a%20roast.%20And%20I%20found%20out%20he%20was%20right.%20It%20was%20a%20Sunday%20ham%20dinner,%20and%20it%20was%20good,%20really%20good!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ecajun%20seasoning%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOven%20on%20375%20(to%20start)%20and%20my%20ham%20was%20still%20partially%20frozen.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20put%20some%20garlic%20and%20pepper%20in%20the%20bottom%20of%20my%20roasting%20pan%20(the%20only%20pan%20I%20had%20that%20was%20big%20enough).%20Put%20in%20the%20ham%20and%20added%20more%20garlic%20and%20pepper%20to%20the%20top%20of%20it.%20Then%20added%20about%204%20cups%20of%20cool%20water.%20Topped%20it%20with%20aluminum%20and%20put%20it%20in.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20I%20waited%20about%203%20hours.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUp%20the%20heat%20to%20425%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20removed%20it%20and%20added%201%20cup%20of%20maple%20syrup*%20and%201/2%20cup%20bbq%20sauce*,%20covered%20the%20foil%20back%20and%20put%20it%20back%20in.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20hour%20later%20I%20removed%20it%20again,%20removed%20the%20foil,%20and%20added%20another%20cup%20(the%20rest%20of%20my)%20syrup%20and%20a%20good%20shake%20of%20cajun%20seasoning.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20time%20when%20it%20went%20back%20in%20the%20oven,%20I%20left%20the%20foil%20off.%20I%20also%20'basted'%20it%20with%20it's%20own%20juices%20about%20ever%2015-20.%20Gave%20it%20another%2045%20minutes%20in%20there,%20then%20took%20it%20out%20to%20rest.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELet%20it%20rest%20up%20and%20cool-%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20the%20skin/excess%20fat/bones%20(the%20dogs%20were%20happy%20that%20night!).%20Slice/shred%20the%20meat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOh..also%20right%20before%20I%20upped%20the%20temp%20I%20added%20in%20about%208%20medium%20russet%20potatoes%20(peeled%20and%20halved).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20this%20is%20just%20the%20way%20I%20did%20it.%20You%20can%20flavor%20this%20however%20you%20want.%20I%20saw%20a%20recipe%20for%20a%20peanut%20butter%20glaze.%20Pineapple%20is%20a%20classic%20pairing.%20Honey%20mustard%20would%20be%20awesome%20I%20think.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPig%20is%20a%20blank%20canvas...and%20we%20are%20the%20painters.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*the%20syrup%20and%20bbq%20sauce%20I%20used%20were%20both%20homemade.%20I'm%20sure%20that%202%20cups%20of%20maple%20syrup%20sounds%20extreme-but%20when%20it's%20the%20kind%20you%20make%20from%20sugar,%20water,%20and%20maple%20flavoring,%20it's%20not%20as%20intense%20as%20the%20real%20stuff.%20Also%20my%20bbq%20sauce..again%20homeade,%20VERY%20thin...so%20if%20you%20use%20a%20bottled%20kind,%20you%20might%20take%20a%20bit%20of%20the%20broth%20and%20thin%20it%20out%20a%20little.%20Or%20not%20and%20have%20a%20more%20intense%20bbq/maple%20taste.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20just%20WAIT%20until%20you%20see%20what%20I%20did%20with%20the%20leftovers!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
