Receta Ham Stuff
I love those ham steaks you can get at most any supermarket. One drawback is that the salt level is pretty high. I combat that by placing the ham in a large skillet filled with simmering water. Off heat I let it steep for 10-15 minutes. That does the trick.
I trim out the little round bone and any extraneous fat or gristle.
For my ham burgers I then run the meat through my grinder, add 2 eggs and 1/2 cup plain bread crumbs, and a few tablespoons of mayonnaise.
I form the resulting mixture into 3 "burgers" which then get seared for 2-3 minutes per side before serving. A slice of cheese on top of each is a nice addition for the last minute of searing.
