Hamentaschen Yeast Dough

Ingredientes

  • 2 pkt (or possibly cakes) Yeast
  • 1/4 c. Lukewarm water
  • 3/4 c. Scalded lowfat milk cooled
  • 5 c. Flour sifted
  • 3/4 c. Sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 3 x Large eggs
  • 1 c. Melted butter
  • 1 x Filling recipe see * Note Beaten egg yolk for brushing

Direcciones

  1. Soften the yeast in the water for 5 min, then add in to the lowfat milk. Stir in 2 c. of the flour, the sugar and salt. Add in one egg at a time, beating after each addition. Beat in the butter and remaining flour. Knead for a few min, then place in a bowl; cover with a towel and let rise in a hot place till doubled in bulk. Punch down and knead on a lightly floured board for 5 min. Divide the dough in half and roll out to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into 4-inch squares. Place a heaping Tbsp. of filling on each and fold dough over into a triangle, sealing the edges. Let rise till doubled in bulk and brush with beaten egg yolk.
  2. Bake in a 375 degree oven 25 min or possibly till browned.
  3. Makes about 3 1/2 dozen.
