Herbed Cottage Cheese Bread

Ingredientes

  • 1 c. cottage cheese, lukewarm
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 tbsp. instant minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1 teaspoon dill seed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 pkg. yeast & 1/4 c. hot water
  • 2 1/2-3 c. flour
  • Coarse salt

Direcciones

  1. Combine yeast and water (add in a dash of sugar) and let set 5-10 min till bubbly. Combine remaining ingredients except flour and stir till well blended. Add in yeast mix. Add in flour till dough is stiff. Knead 2-3 min. Let rise (till double, 45 min).
  2. Shape loaf and put in a greased 2 qt casserole. Let rise about 40 min. Bake at 350 degrees about 30 min, till golden brown. Brush with butter and sprinkle with coarse salt. Variation, use Italian herbs, ricotta cheese and sprinkle with Parmesan.
