%20so%20the%20GI%20Joes%20and%20Glamour%20Gals%20could%20have%20a%20nice,%20but%20rather%20muddy,%20lake%20to%20swim%20in.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELet's%20not%20lay%20blame.%20Point%20fingers.%20(But%20that%20last%20one%20totally%20sounds%20like%20me.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20every%20Tuesday%20night,%20dad%20had%20a%20solo%20stint%20in%20the%20madhouse.%20And%20maybe%20we%20tested%20the%20waters%20a%20little%20to%20see%20if%20dad%20could%20be%20pushed%20as%20far%20as%20mom.%20(He%20could%20not).%20But%20sometimes%20the%20chaos%20followed%20by%20panic,%20or%20yelling,%20or%20kids%20in%20the%20corner,%20was%20sincere.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20these%20Tuesday%20nights,%20dad%20was%20responsible%20for%20meals%20and%20baths.%20Cleaning%20the%20kitchen%20and%20doing%20the%20dishes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20such%20Tuesday%20night,%20dad%20stood%20at%20the%20sink%20washing%20dishes,%20back%20turned%20to%20his%20three%20little%20monsters.%20Which%20was%20not%20wise.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20little%205%20year%20old%20voice%20asked,%20%22Daddy,%20can%20I%20please%20have%20some%20water?%20This%20stuff%20is%20kinda%20hot.%22%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDad%20froze.%20I%20saw%20him%20stop%20the%20pot%20scrubbing%20and%20tense%20up.%20%22What's%20kinda%20hot?%22%20As%20he%20turned%20around%20to%20face%20my%20brother.%20%22Holy%20crap,%20stop%20that!%22%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20brother%20sat%20at%20the%20kitchen%20table%20sucking--even%20at%20that%20moment--sucking%20on%20a%20bottle%20of%20Tabasco.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo,%20yes,%20some%20do%20like%20it%20hot%20and%20spicy.%20Even%20at%20an%20early%20age.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpaghetti%20Aglio,%20Olio,%20e%20Peperoncino%20from%20Tessa%20Kiros's%20Twelve%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENotes:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20a%20simple,%20quick%20dish.%20Just%20the%20right%20kind%20for%20nights%20when%20you're%20on%20your%20own%20with%20monsters.%20Pasta%20is%20quickly%20tossed%20in%20a%20sauce%20of%20olive%20oil,%20garlic,%20and%20dried%20peppers.%20My%20peppers%20were%20not%20spicy--funny%20how%20that%20happens%20sometimes--so%20I%20added%20additional%20red%20pepper%20flakes.%20Add%20a%20salad%20and%20you%20have%20a%20somewhat%20instant%20meal%20that%20doesn't%20require%20you%20to%20turn%20your%20back%20for%20too%20long.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThere%20is%20a%20similar%20dish%20from%20Giada%20de%20Laurentiis%20with%20lemon%20juice%20and%20zest%20(and%20our%20addition%20of%20kalamata%20olives)%20that%20is%20one%20of%20our%20all%20time%20favorites.%20Especially%20in%20the%20summer.%20We%20like%20that%20extra%20salt/tang/acidity%20from%20the%20lemon%20and%20olives,%20which%20this%20recipe%20lacks.%20However,%20we%20liked%20the%20inclusion%20of%20garlic%20in%20Tessa%20Kiros's%20dish.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELinking%20with%20I%20Heart%20Cooking%20Clubs%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20week's%20theme:%20Some%20Like%20It%20Hot...and%20Spicy%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlso%20linking%20with%20Cookbook%20Sundays%20%239%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Egrated%20Parmesan%20for%20the%20top%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20pasta%20according%20to%20package%20directions,%20reserving%20about%201/2%20c%20of%20the%20cooking%20liquid%20before%20draining.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMeanwhile,%20add%20the%20olive%20oil,%20chili,%20and%20garlic%20to%20a%20large%20pan.%20Heat%20over%20medium%20low%20until%20the%20garlic%20is%20fragrant%20and%20the%20chilies%20color%20the%20oil.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20pasta%20and%20parsley%20to%20the%20oil%20and%20season%20with%20salt.%20Toss%20well.%20Serve%20topped%20with%20Parmesan.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
