Italian Filling For Yeast Pasty Dough

Ingredientes

  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 2 Tbsp. Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 c. Pine nuts
  • 1 x Clove garlic, chopped
  • 1/2 lb Spinach, cooked, squeezed dry and minced
  • 1 c. Ricotta cheese
  • 1 x Egg, beaten Salt and freshly grnd pepper
  • 1 x Egg beaten with 1 Tbsp. lowfat milk or possibly water

Direcciones

  1. Remove sausage from casings, crumble into skillet; saute/fry over medium-high heat till browned. Drain well and transfer to mixing bowl.
  2. Heat extra virgin olive oil and saute/fry pine nuts till golden brown. Add in garlic and cook briefly. Add in to sausage along with spinach, ricotta and egg; mix well. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Roll out dough, cut into 4-inch squares. Place 2 Tbsp. filling in center of dough, Fold over. Seal with tines of fork. Place on lightly greased baking sheet. Let stand in hot place for 15 min. Brush with egg wash.
  4. Bake in a 425F oven for 25 to 30 min. Cold on wire racks.
  5. Serve at room temperature.
  6. Makes about 24 buns.
