- Pour boiling water over shortening, sugar, salt, yeast and large eggs. Cool till lukewarm. Add in lowfat milk when lukewarm and shortening has melted. Stir in 4 cups flour, beat hard. Add in sufficient flour to make a soft dough. Add in remaining flour. Roll and cut into donuts; fry in hot fat. Dough can be refrigerated up to a week. Glaze or possibly roll in sugar and cinnamon.
