%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHere%E2%80%99s%20how%20it%20would%20go%20down%20at%20my%20kitchen%20table.%20We%E2%80%99d%20eat%20supper.%20Usually%20something%20like%20a%20pork%20roast%20or%20spaghetti.%20Always%20with%20a%20vegetable%20(or%20two)%20on%20the%20side;%20salad%20and%20peas,%20maybe%20corn....%20We%20didn%E2%80%99t%20have%20dessert%20every%20night,%20but%20it%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20unusual,%20either.%20But,%20I%20digress.%20We%20would%20finish%20eating%20supper%20and%20move%20on%20to%20dessert...and%20my%20Mom%20and%20Dad%20and%20sister%20would%20all%20move%20on%20to%20the%20sweet%20stuff....%20and%20I%20would%20reach%20for%20the%20bowl%20with%20the%20rest%20of%20the%20peas%20in%20it...or%20another%20helping%20of%20spaghetti....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20mother%20sometimes%20wonders%20how%20she%20gave%20birth%20to%20me.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo,%20naturally,%20when%20I%20was%20reminiscing%20about%20my%20childhood%20dinner%20table,%20it%20occurs%20to%20me%20that%20the%20kid%20inside%20me%20wouldn%E2%80%99t%20automatically%20pick%20Giada%E2%80%99s%20Chocolate%20Pizza....no.%20She%20would%20ask%20for%20pasta.%20And%20not%20just%20any%20pasta,%20not%20when%20Giada%20is%20in%20the%20kitchen%20with%20me.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIts%20gotta%20be%20Sciue%20Sciue.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(Now%20my%20mother%20is%20truly%20confused)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20not%20a%20dish%20I%20had%20growing%20up,%20but%20I%20discovered%20it%20years%20ago%20when%20I%20first%20became%20entranced%20by%20Everyday%20Italian.%20One%20of%20the%20simplest%20pasta%20dishes%20ever,%20and%20made%20with%20kids%20in%20mind%20(well,%20except%20maybe%20my%20completely%20irreverent%20picky%20eater%20of%20a%20son)%20using%20pastina;%20any%20little%20short%20cut%20pasta%20you%20have,%20but%20in%20my%20case,%20Ditalini.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20the%20first%20pasta%20dish%20I%20ever%20served%20to%20my%20Little%20Man.%20And%20he%20loved%20it%20(you%20know,%20until%20he%20was%20introduced%20to%20the%20Blue%20Box%20and%20its%20neon%20orange%20contents,%20and%20never%20turned%20back).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20so,%20for%20the%20kid%20in%20my%20heart...and%20the%20child%20OF%20my%20heart....Giada%E2%80%99s%20Sciue%20Sciue%20pasta.%20A%20quick,%20light%20yet%20hearty,%20and%20flavorful%20bowl%20of%20goodness%20that%20I%20can%20throw%20together%20almost%20any%20night%20of%20the%20week,%20just%20from%20my%20fridge%20and%20pantry.%20It%20just%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20get%20much%20better%20than%20that.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EREMINDER!%20Don%E2%80%99t%20forget%20that%20you%20have%20until%20November%2019%20(That%E2%80%99s%20only%20a%20week%20away,%20folks!)%20to%20submit%20your%20dishes%20to%20The%20Bacon%20Games!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20Boil%20up%20a%20large%20saucepan%20of%20salted%20water.%20Add%20the%20pasta%20and%20cook%20until%20tender%20but%20still%20al%20dente%20(firm%20to%20the%20bite),%20stirring%20often%20to%20prevent%20sticking.%20This%20takes%20about%208%20minutes.%20Drain.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20Meanwhile,%20heat%20the%20oil%20in%20a%20large%20heavy%20skillet%20over%20medium%20heat.%20Add%20the%20garlic%20and%20saute%20until%20fragrant,%20about%201%20minute.%20Be%20careful%20not%20to%20burn.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3%20Add%20the%20tomatoes%20and%20saute%20just%20until%20heated%20through,%20about%202%20minutes.%20Add%20the%20cooked,%20drained%20pasta.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4%20Remove%20skillet%20from%20heat.%20Add%20the%20cheese%20and%20basil%20and%20toss%20to%20coat.%20Season%20to%20taste%20with%20salt.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E**Notes:%20when%20I%20make%20this,%20just%20after%20saut%C3%A9ing%20the%20tomatoes,%20I%20add%20about%20a%20half%20a%20cup%20of%20white%20wine%20to%20the%20pan%20and%20let%20it%20cook%20down%20a%20bit.%20This%20is%20best%20served%20straight%20from%20the%20pan%20while%20the%20cheese%20still%20has%20some%20body%20to%20it.%20I%20made%20this%20last%20night%20while%20Daddy%20was%20out%20hunting,%20and%20put%20the%20leftovers%20in%20the%20fridge%20for%20another%20use.%20This%20weekend%20Ginny%20is%20coming%20out%20for%20our%20annual%20Holiday%20Candy%20making%20fest,%20and%20the%20rest%20of%20this%20pasta%20will%20make%20a%20fabulous%20frittata%20for%20breakfast%20Saturday%20morning!%20Stay%20tuned%20for%20that%20post!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
