%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20the%20egg%20and%20the%20milk%20together,%20slowly%20beat%20in%20the%20sugar.%20Add%20raisins%20to%20the%20mixture%20if%20desired.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPut%20the%20mixture%20in%20a%20shallow%20pan%20and%20bake%20for%201/2%20to%203/4%20of%20an%20hour%20at%20325.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20finished%20put%20the%20pan%20in%20the%20refrigerator%20until%20ready%20to%20serve.Scoop%20out%20desired%20amount%20and%20sprinkle%20cinnamon%20on%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELegends%20of%20the%20Lake%20%E2%80%93%20Review%20by%20Martha%20A.%20Cheves,%20Author%20of%20Stir,%20Laugh,%20Repeat;%20Think%20With%20Your%20Taste%20Buds;%20A%20Book%20and%20A%20Dish%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20driving%20you%E2%80%99d%20pass%20many%20cow%20pastures,%20large%20corn%20fields,%20and%20farms%20to%20the%20left%20and%20the%20right%20of%20you,%20as%20you%20drove%20slowly%20to%20avoid%20the%20most%20worn%20down%20areas%20of%20the%20road.%20The%20further%20you%20progress,%20the%20more%20trees%20and%20beautiful%20wild%20flowers%20take%20over%20the%20landscape%E2%80%A6%20Looking%20left%20you%20see%20a%20sliver%20of%20the%20lake,%20a%20big%20blue%20lake.%20There%20are%20campgrounds%20and%20a%20small%20bait%20and%20tackle%20shop%20situated%20right%20next%20to%20it%E2%80%A6%20Continue%20on%20your%20slow%20drive%20down%20the%20hill%20and%20through%20all%20the%20curves,%20you%20pass%20children%20of%20the%20generation%20walking%20on%20the%20side%20of%20the%20road%E2%80%A6%20The%20young%20boys%20are%20shirtless%20and%20some%20are%20white%20as%20white%20can%20be,%20while%20others%20have%20what%20were%20called%20%E2%80%9Cfarmer%E2%80%99s%20tans.%E2%80%9D%20This%20is%20where%20their%20arms%20and%20faces%20are%20tanned,%20but%20their%20chests%20and%20backs%20aren%E2%80%99t%20as%20they%20always%20wore%20t-shirts%20during%20the%20day%E2%80%A6%20The%20aroma%20of%20fresh%20cut%20green%20grass%20and%20giant%20pine%20trees%20lingers%20in%20the%20background,%20while%20the%20special%20odor%20of%20the%20seaweed%20which%20gets%20pushed%20up%20on%20the%20shore%20makes%20me%20smile%E2%80%A6%20This%20is%20when%20you%20see%20it%20off%20to%20the%20right%E2%80%A6%20you%20can%E2%80%99t%20miss%20the%20boulders%20which%20line%20the%20front%20of%20it%20which%20proudly%20proclaims%20to%20everyone%20that%20%E2%80%9CThe%20Krons%E2%80%9D%20reside%20here.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPhilip%20had%20the%20kind%20of%20grandparent/grandchild%20relationship%20that%20every%20kid%20would%20love%20to%20be%20able%20to%20brag%20about.%20Actually%20his%20Gramps%20and%20Nana%20(Kron)%20were%20his%20mother%E2%80%99s%20grandparents%20making%20them%20his%20%E2%80%98great%E2%80%99%20grandparents.%20No%20matter,%20he%20love%20spending%20as%20much%20time%20as%20possible%20at%20their%20lake%20house%20in%20Wisconsin.%20Gramps%20bought%20the%20lake%20property%20before%20he%20and%20Nana%20had%20their%20first%20child.%20They%20envisioned%20it%20as%20a%20place%20to%20bring%20the%20family%20throughout%20the%20generations%20and%20that%E2%80%99s%20exactly%20what%20they%20did.%20This%20two%20bedroom%20cottage%20housed%20parents,%20children%20and%20grand%20children%20for%20many%20years%20and%20the%20one%20thing%20it%20did,%20or%20should%20I%20say%20those%20in%20residence%20did,%20was%20create%20memories.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOver%20the%20years%20memories%20were%20passed%20on%20from%20one%20generation%20to%20another%20and%20by%20the%20time%20they%20reached%20Phil%E2%80%99s%20young%20ears%20they%20may%20have%20grown%20and%20may%20not%20be%20quite%20true%20but%20who%20was%20to%20say%20they%20were%20or%20weren%E2%80%99t.%20For%20instance,%20one%20of%20the%20cottage%20owners%20went%20by%20the%20initials%20of%20AC%20instead%20of%20his%20name.%20He%20was%20from%20Chicago%20and%20in%20the%20%E2%80%98produce%E2%80%99%20business.%20When%20probation%20came%20he%20was%20there%20to%20help%20out%20by%20opening%20what%20was%20known%20as%20a%20%E2%80%98speakeasy%E2%80%99%20with%20a%20bar%20and%20gambling%20in%20the%20back.%20It%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20too%20long%20afterwards%20that%20AC%20disappeared%20back%20to%20Chicago,%20never%20to%20return.%20That%20was%20around%20the%20same%20time%20Al%20Capone%20was%20locked%20away.%20Was%20AC%20the%20famous%20Al%20Copone?%20If%20not,%20how%20did%20a%20%E2%80%98produce%E2%80%99%20man%20acquire%20alcohol,%20gambling%20equipment%20and%20some%20pretty%20mean%20looking%20guards%20for%20the%20%E2%80%98speakeasy?%E2%80%99%20Then%20there%20was%20the%20story%20about%20Nana%20needing%20some%20type%20of%20container%20to%20carry%20her%20food%20to%20and%20from%20the%20pier.%20One%20of%20the%20residences,%20a%20Mr.%20Tupper,%20came%20up%20with%20the%20perfect%20container%20including%20a%20fitting%20top.%20Or%20how%20about%20the%20time%20one%20of%20the%20kids%20was%20hit%20by%20a%20baseball,%20which%20hurt%20like%20heck.%20A%20man%20from%20a%20nearby%20cottage%20brought%20out%20a%20ball,%20threw%20it%20as%20hard%20as%20he%20could%20and%20hit%20the%20kid%20square%20in%20the%20chest.%20Billy,%20expecting%20it%20to%20hurt%20was%20shocked%20when%20it%20didn%E2%80%99t.%20He%20picked%20it%20up%20and%20found%20it%20to%20be%20soft%20and%20light.%20When%20asked%20what%20it%20was%20called%20the%20man%20explained%20it%20didn%E2%80%99t%20have%20a%20name%20just%20yet.%20Billy%20suggested%20the%20name%20%E2%80%98Non-Expanding%20Recreational%20Foam%E2%80%99%20ball%20or%20NERF%20for%20short.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAre%20these%20truths%20or%20fictions?%20Who%20cares.%20They%20are%20the%20stories%20that%20made%20a%20young%20boy%E2%80%99s%20life%20better.%20These%20stories,%20along%20with%20those%20telling%20them,%20helped%20to%20shape%20not%20just%20Phil%20but%20all%20of%20the%20family%20into%20what%20they%20were%20and%20are%20today.%20Reading%20Legends%20of%20the%20Lake%20kept%20me%20in%20a%20frame%20of%20a%20%E2%80%98wishing%20world.%E2%80%99%20I%20wish%20I%20could%20have%20lived%20and%20experienced%20the%20history%20of%20some%20of%20these%20family%20members%20and%20also%20wish%20I%20could%20be%20one%20to%20help%20carry%20beautiful%20memories%20on%20into%20the%20next%20generation.%20I%20loved%20the%20feelings%20of%20love,%20peace,%20family,%20togetherness,%20and%20true%20life%20that%20Phil%20experienced%20while%20growing%20up.%20Don%E2%80%99t%20get%20me%20wrong,%20there%20were%20bad%20times%20too%20but%20the%20teachings%20of%20Gramps%20and%20Nana%20made%20those%20times%20a%20lot%20easier%20to%20live%20through.%20You%20have%20to%20read%20this%20one%20or%20you%E2%80%99re%20missing%20out%20on%20some%20wonderful%20emotional%20feelings.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
