.%20%20With%20laughter%20carrying%20across%20the%20street%20I%20stood%20hesitantly%20in%20my%20front%20yard%20while%20clutching%20my%20big%20measuring%20cup%20and%20decided%20to%20head%20over.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20dad%20opened%20the%20door,%20saw%20my%20measuring%20cup%20and%20asked%20if%20I%20needed%20sugar.%20%20The%20all%20out%20belly%20laugh%20that%20occurred%20after%20I%20stated,%20%22No...%20I%20need%20a%20cup%20and%20a%20half%20of%20vodka,%22%20had%20me%20smiling%20while%20he%20asked%20if%20my%20day%20really%20had%20been%20that%20bad?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EVodka%20in%20hand,%20I%20scurried%20back%20home,%20prepared%20my%20Jell-O%20concoction%20(we%20used%20a%20ratio%20of%202/3%20vodka%20to%201/3%20water)%20and%20set%20the%20filled%20lemon%20shells%20into%20the%20fridge%20to%20set%20overnight.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20sharp%20knife%20and%20a%20pretty%20plate%20was%20all%20that%20was%20remaining%20for%20our%20party%20offering%20the%20next%20day%20which%20indeed%20garnered%20plenty%20of%20%22Oooh's%20and%20aaah's%22%20as%20it%20was%20placed%20on%20the%20drink%20table.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdjustable%20to%20suit%20your%20tastes,%20the%20hardest%20part%20of%20the%20recipe%20is%20scooping%20out%20the%20lemon%20shells.%20%20My%20first%20attempt%20to%20turn%20the%20shells%20inside%20out,%20as%20I%20had%20seen%20recommended,%20didn't%20work%20and%20found%20me%20with%20a%20torn%20half%20lemon%20shell%20left%20in%20my%20hands.%20%20My%20solution%20was%20to%20use%20a%20paring%20knife%20to%20cut%20away%20as%20much%20of%20the%20lemon%20from%20the%20rind%20as%20I%20could%20and%20simply%20using%20either%20the%20edge%20of%20the%20knife%20or%20my%20fingernail%20to%20peel%20away%20the%20remaining%20pith,%20almost%20like%20peeling%20the%20lemon%20from%20the%20inside%20out.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EVisually%20appealing%20as%20well%20as%20fun,%20I%20enjoyed%20the%20numerous%20questions%20about%20how%20I%20had%20shaped%20the%20wedges,%20with%20most%20people%20not%20realizing%20that%20I%20had%20cut%20the%20wedges%20from%20a%20half%20lemon%20that%20had%20chilled%20overnight.%20%20Popular%20with%20all%20ages%20(over%2021%20years%20of%20age)%20I%20served%20a%20few%20saved%20wedges%20to%20my%20parents,%20Father-in-Law,%20and%20my%20dad's%2085%20year%20old%20cousin%20the%20following%20night%20and%20actually%20had%20my%20Father-in-Law%20ask%20for%20seconds.%20%20Jell-O%20shots%20do%20indeed%20span%20the%20generations!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHappy%20National%20Vodka%20Day%202011!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELemon%20Drop%20Jell-O%20Shots%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20fun%20way%20to%20do%20shots,%20these%20shots%20can%20be%20made%20with%20any%20sort%20of%20citrus.%20%20We%20found%20our%20water/vodka%20ratio%20to%20be%20not%20too%20%22alcoholy%22,%20yet%20still%20fun.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EScrub%20lemons.%20%20Cut%20lemons%20in%20half.%20%20With%20a%20small%20paring%20knife,%20cut%20as%20much%20of%20the%20lemon%20away%20from%20the%20rind%20as%20you%20can.%20%20With%20the%20tip%20of%20the%20knife,%20or%20simply%20your%20fingernail,%20scratch%20at%20the%20membranes%20until%20you%20can%20%22peel%22%20the%20remaining%20membranes%20from%20the%20rind,%20you%20will%20be%20left%20with%20an%20empty%201/2%20lemon%20rind.%20(Kind%20of%20like%20peeling%20from%20the%20inside%20out).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStand%20the%20rinds%20in%20mini%20muffin%20tins.%20%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPrepare%20jiggler%20recipe%20for%20the%20jello%20using%20two%20boxes%20(6%20oz)%20of%20jello%20and%202%201/2%20cups%20of%20liquid.%20%20(At%20this%20point%20you%20may%20adjust%20the%20vodka%20level%20to%20suit%20your%20tastes,%20I%20have%20read%20recipes%20replacing%201/4%20cups%20of%20vodka%20for%201/4%20cup%20of%20water%20to%20others%20using%20100%25%20vodka.%20%20Use%20what%20works%20for%20you%20and%20prepare%20Jell-O%20as%20directed,%20just%20keep%20the%20liquid%20amount%20to%202%201/2%20cups).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20heated%201%20cup%20of%20water%20and%20stirred%20the%20Jell-O%20until%20the%20sugar%20was%20dissolved.%20%20We%20then%20added%201%201/2%20cups%20of%20vodka%20to%20the%20jello%20and%20stirred%20to%20combine,%20then%20poured%20the%20Jell-O%20into%20the%20prepared%20lemon%20shells.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20the%20mini%20muffin%20pan%20holding%20the%20shells%20into%20the%20fridge%20and%20chill%20overnight.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20serve,%20simply%20cut%20the%20%22lemon%22%20halves%20into%20wedges%20and%20arrange%20on%20a%20plate.%20%20Enjoy!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
