%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThose%20flowers%20certainly%20make%20me%20feel%20better,%20so%20much%20so%20that%20I%20have%20chosen%20to%20bake%20an%20apple%20frangipane%20tart...something%20that%20requires%20a%20little%20extra%20effort%20to%20put%20together.%20I%20don't%20even%20mind%20the%20trouble.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBesides%20flowers,%20an%20apple%20a%20day%20is%20something%20I%20need%20to%20keep%20myself%20healthy.%20This%20is%20the%20first%20time%20I%20am%20baking%20something%20with%20apples.%20Yes,%20the%20very%20first%20time%20since%20five%20years%20into%20my%20baking%20journey.%20Pardon%20my%20ignorant,%20I%20didn't%20know%20that%20the%20skin%20would%20turn%20a%20ugly%20dull%20brown%20after%20spending%2045mins%20in%20the%20oven.%20Next%20time%20I%20should%20just%20peel%20the%20apples.%20Most%20apple%20tart%20recipes%20would%20recommend%20a%20good%20coating%20of%20apricot%20jam%20over%20the%20apple%20slices%20when%20the%20tart%20is%20out%20from%20the%20oven.%20I%20never%20like%20glossy%20looking%20pies%20or%20tarts,%20so%20I%20skip%20the%20step%20and%20dust%20it%20with%20some%20icing%20sugar%20instead.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20rather%20cheery%20and%20sunshine%20looking%20apple%20tart,%20don't%20you%20think%20so?%20I%20wish%20I%20could%20share%20it%20with%20my%20friends...hey,%20someone%20should%20start%20a%20food%20dispatch%20service%20here!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20pastry%20crust%20and%20frangipane%20filling%20(pastry%20cream%20made%20with%20grounded%20almond%20along%20with%20sugar,%20butter,%20and%20eggs)%20tastes%20really%20good...but%20I%20can't%20say%20the%20same%20to%20the%20baked%20apple%20slices.%20Well,%20they%20are%20a%20bit%20soft...a%20texture%20I%20am%20not%20used%20to%20associating%20it%20with%20crunchy,%20juicy%20apples.%20The%20tart%20is%20best%20served%20on%20the%20day%20it%20is%20baked,%20somehow%20the%20crust%20will%20lose%20some%20of%20its%20crisp%20when%20left%20over%20night...could%20it%20be%20due%20to%20the%20high%20humidity?%20(If%20this%20happens,%20just%20warm%20it%20in%20the%20oven%20and%20the%20tart%20will%20taste%20like%20freshly%20baked.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20am%20submitting%20this%20apple%20frangipane%20tart%20to%20Aspiring%20Bakers%20%2310:%20Easy%20as%20Pie%20(August%202011)%20hosted%20by%20Janine%20of%20Not%20the%20Kitchen%20Sink!%20Thanks%20Janine%20for%20hosting%20this%20round%20and%20Small%20Small%20Baker%20for%20championing%20this%20monthly%20baking%20event!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20thought%20I%20would%20leave%20the%20pictures%20to%20speak%20for%20themselves,%20alas,%20I%20am%20the%20one%20who%20did%20most%20of%20the%20talking%20(*%5E_%5E*)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EApple%20Frangipane%20Tart%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(makes%20one%2018cm%20tart)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Epastry%20crust:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELightly%20grease%20an%2018cm%20tart%20pan%20(with%20removable%20base)%20with%20butter,%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EToast%20almond%20powder%20at%20100%20degC%20for%2010%20mins.%20Stirring%20in%20between.%20Let%20cool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Epastry%20crust:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWith%20a%20manual%20whisk,%20cream%20butter%20and%20sugar%20till%20light%20and%20fluffy.%20Dribble%20in%20the%20egg,%20whisk%20and%20mix%20well.%20Add%20in%20the%20almond%20powder%20and%20fold%20with%20a%20spatula.%20Sieve%20over%20the%20flour%20and%20fold%20in%20with%20the%20spatula.%20Gather%20the%20mixture%20to%20form%20a%20dough.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFlatten%20the%20pastry%20dough%20to%20form%20a%20round%20disc.%20Roll%20out%20dough%20in%20between%202%20sheets%20of%20baking%20paper(I%20used%20two%20plastic%20sheets%20cut-out%20from%20clear%20plastic%20bags)%20to%20about%2023cm%20in%20diameter.%20Remove%20one%20side%20of%20the%20baking%20paper/plastic%20sheet.%20Gently%20lift%20up%20the%20other%20sheet%20of%20baking%20paper/plastic%20(with%20the%20pastry%20dough%20still%20on%20it)%20and%20flip%20the%20pastry%20dough%20over%20the%20prepared%20tart%20pan.%20Remove%20the%20baking%20paper/plastic%20sheet.%20(Don't%20worry%20if%20some%20parts%20of%20the%20pastry%20broke%20off.%20It%20can%20be%20moulded%20easily%20back%20into%20the%20tart%20pan.)%20Mould%20the%20pastry%20into%20the%20tart%20pan,%20smoothing%20the%20edges%20and%20the%20rim%20carefully.%20(If%20the%20pastry%20is%20too%20soft%20to%20handle,%20chill%20the%20rolled%20out%20dough%20in%20the%20fridge%20for%2010~15%20mins%20before%20moulding.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPrick%20the%20pastry%20surface%20with%20a%20fork%20(this%20helps%20to%20prevent%20the%20pastry%20from%20puffing%20up%20when%20baking,%20refer%20picture%20of%20a%20baked%20pastry%20crust%20here).%20Cover%20and%20chill%20the%20moulded%20pastry%20in%20the%20fridge%20for%2020mins%20(this%20helps%20to%20prevent%20the%20pastry%20from%20shrinking%20too%20much%20after%20baking.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBrush%20the%20top%20of%20the%20rim%20with%20some%20egg%20wash%20(optional).%20Bake%20in%20pre-heated%20oven%20at%20180%20degC%20for%2010~12%20mins%20or%20until%20the%20pastry%20is%20lightly%20golden%20browned.%20Let%20cool%20and%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3
