Receta Making Pumpkin Bread with Bread Maker

A couple weeks ago, my husband went to his ex-colleague's house to pass some documents. Apparently, this uncle's wife served my husband her home made bread that she made using her bread maker and during my husband's two hours' visit at this uncle's house, the lady of the house kept on bragging about bread maker and the goodness of home made bread. She even showed my husband the Facebook pages to get some trusted online bread recipes. When my husband got home, he described to me how soft the bread the aunty made.

Last weekend, my husband suddenly Whatsapp-ed me a picture of a bread maker. He said, he just bought it for me. Waaaaaaaaaaah... I was so happy.

I tested my bread maker for the first time last Sunday and my first attempt using the recipe in the bread maker's manual book was a total flop. The bread was so freakishly hard that I think if it's thrown to someone and the bread happens to hit that person's head, he/she may faint that very moment. Anyhow, I kind of expected that my first few tries using the bread maker were not going to be fantastic ones because I was trying to get to know my new toy and it's going to take some time. Next, my second attempt was not successful again and by then, I began to feel a bit disheartened as I didn't want to waste too much ingredients away. Baking ingredients don't fall from the tree, man.. I need money to get them. Haha.

Few days ago, an Instagram friend of mine who is a passionate home baker, kindly shared with me her pumpkin bread recipe and when I tried it yesterday, I was so happy that my third attempt using the bread maker was finally a success. (Thanks again, E!)

Soft and fluffy home made pumpkin bread.

Here's the recipe that I used to make my pumpkin bread.

Pumpkin Bread

Ingredients:

Good sign: Your bread is rising tall and proud when baking.

Methods:

As per the general bread maker function: Place fresh milk, pumpkin puree, beaten egg, sugar and salt first in the bread maker.

Pour the bread flour then make a small hole in the flour.

Put the yeast in the flour hole (make sure the yeast is not in contact with the liquid ingredients before kneading).

Turn your bread machine on (I use the basic program).

Once the machine starts kneading and all ingredients now has form a dough, put the butter in.

Add more flour to the dough if needed. If the dough is too wet, add a bit more flour until the dough is elastic.

Let your machine do the rest until the bread is completely baked.

Cooling my home made Pumpkin Bread.

This pumpkin bread is so soft and both my husband and I were so pleased with the result. After two failed breads I presented him last week, finally my husband commented, "This is bread!", when he put his first slice of pumpkin bread I made yesterday into his mouth.

Last but not least, as a newbie in bread making world, I learnt few lessons in using my bread maker thus far:

Always use bread flour to make breads. Cake flour or any other type of flour won't do the job.

Salt is not to be skipped in bread making.

Take the kneading blade out of the machine during the dough's final proofing.

Turn your bread machine off when you think that your bread is done or the crust colour is brown enough. No need to follow the complete cycle of the bread maker program, else you'd have a bread with very hard crust.

Always transfer your fresh-from-the-bread-maker bread onto a wire cooling rack to keep the bread in top shape.

Only cut or slice your bread after it is completely cold.

Keep your home-made bread in an airtight container to keep it soft and consume the bread within 3 days.
