Makivnyk - Paska non-traditional easy

Ingredientes

  • 3 cups water (lukewarm)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 6 Tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp turmeric
  • 2 Tbsp instant yeast
  • 2 eggs
  • 8 cups flour
  • raisins optional
  • Poppy seed filling:
  • 1/2 butter or margarine
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup poppy seed
  • Cinnamon filling:
  • 1/2 butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp cinnamon

Direcciones

  1. Mix yeast and 4 cups of flour and the turmeric. In a separate larger bowl, whip eggs, sugar, oil and water. Add flour mixture, blend well. Add the salt and remaining flour, the dough will be sticky.
  2. Cover bowl with clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for 15 minutes.
  3. Punch dough down, re-cover and let rise another 15 minutes.
  4. Divide dough in half. Roll dough into a 16x8" rectangle about a 1/4" thick on a lightly floured surface.
  5. Spread 1/2 cup butter onto dough keeping away from edges. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly. Roll up length wise and pinch seam closed.
  6. Put on a parchment covered cookie sheet, seam down. Use butter or oil to oil the roll. Cover with a clean kitchen towel.
  7. For the other half of dough do the same using poppy seed filling instead.
  8. Let rise for about 1 hour until doubled. Bake for about 20-25 min. until golden brown.
  9. After the rolls come out of the oven brush them with butter, will soften the crust. Remove from pan.
  10. NOTE: I use my oven with just the light on for letting the dough rise.
