%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20Tequila%20Girl%20since%20my%2020's,%20I%20have%20come%20to%20enjoy%20the%20pure,%20strong%20flavors%20of%20Margarita...%20sans%20sugar.%20%20Hence,%20I%20personally%20loved%20these%20shots%20with%20very%20little%20sugar%20(I%20used%20only%202%20Tbs).%20%20My%20husband%20however,%20found%20them%20too%20tart%20(%22puckery%22%20was%20his%20description!)%20for%20his%20tastes%20and%20preferred%20his%20with%20about%204%20Tbs%20of%20sugar.%20%20As%20such,%20be%20sure%20to%20taste%20the%20liquid%20before%20chilling%20and%20adjust%20the%20amount%20of%20sugar%20to%20your%20tart/sweet%20preference.%20%20I've%20seen%20other%20recipes%20using%20limeade%20concentrate.%20%20Again,%20I%20prefer%20the%20fresh%20flavors%20of%20a%20good%20tart%20lime,%20however%20the%20concentrate%20would%20most%20likely%20bring%20additional%20sweetness%20to%20the%20mix%20and%20I'm%20guessing%20it%20would%20be%20a%20good%20substitute.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20Lime%20Sugar%20adds%20a%20wonderful%20punch%20to%20the%20shots%20with%20a%20blast%20of%20sweetness%20and%20and%20an%20additional%20shot%20of%20lime.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20addition,%20as%20the%20gelatin%20is%20flavorless,%20I%20would%20recommend%20using%20a%20good%20quality%20tequila%20as%20the%20margarita%20flavors%20in%20these%20cubes%20truly%20shine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20medium%20bowl%20add%20tequila%20and%20fresh%20squeezed%20juices.%20%20Sprinkle%20geletin%20over%20the%20top.%20%20Heat%20water%20in%20a%20microwave%20until%20boiling,%20add%20sugar%20and%20whisk%20a%20few%20times.%20%20Pour%20hot%20sugar%20water%20into%20the%20tequila%20and%20add%20Grand%20Marnier%20and%20a%20small%20pinch%20of%20salt.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhisk%20the%20mixture%20until%20geletin%20dissolves%20(I%20whisked%20for%20about%203%20minutes).%20%20If%20gelatin%20is%20not%20dissolving,%20heat%20briefly%20(start%20at%2030%20seconds)%20in%20the%20microwave,%20being%20careful%20not%20to%20allow%20mixture%20to%20boil%20and%20continue%20whisking.%20%20The%20sugar%20will%20also%20dissolve.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20into%20a%20prepared%20baking%20dish%20(I%20sprayed%20a%20glass%209x6%20inch%20dish%20with%20cooking%20spray)%20and%20chill%20until%20set,%20at%20least%203%20hours.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20from%20refrigerator%20and%20cut%20into%20desired%20shapes...%20we%20did%20simple%20squares,%20but%20diagonal%20cuts%20could%20create%20fancier%20diamonds%20or%20triangles.%20%20Or%20how%20about%20a%20cutter%20for%20circles?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20on%20a%20serving%20dish,%20garnish%20as%20desired%20and%20serve%20with%20Lime%20Sugar.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELiv%20Life%20Note:%20%20While%20I%20used%20white%20granulated%20sugar%20in%20the%20shots%20this%20time,%20I'm%20somewhat%20curious%20to%20see%20how%20agave%20would%20work%20as%20a%20substitute%20and%20will%20give%20that%20a%20go%20next%20time.%20%20I%20will%20report%20back%20after%20our%20next%20version!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELiv%20Live%20Note%202:%20%20While%20we%20used%20a%209x6%20inch%20dish,%20a%20smaller%20dish%20would%20create%20taller%20shots,%20etc.%20%20Experiment%20with%20your%20favorite%20shape!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELime%20Sugar%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20perfect%20foil%20to%20Margarita%20Lime%20Jello%20Shots,%20or%20wonderful%20used%20as%20a%20sprinkle%20on%20Citrus%20Cookies%20or%20in%20any%20baked%20good%20where%20lime%20flavors%20would%20be%20welcomed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServing%20the%20Margarita%20Shots,%20I%20simply%20placed%20small%20spoonfuls%20of%20the%20sugar%20around%20the%20plate.%20%20A%20small%20dish%20or%20bowl%20in%20the%20center%20of%20your%20serving%20plate%20would%20work%20as%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/3%20cup%20sugar%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ezest%20from%20one%20lime%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20sugar%20and%20zest%20of%20a%20lime%20into%20a%20small%20food%20processor%20or%20blender.%20%20Process%20for%20about%2010%20pulses,%20or%20until%20zest%20in%20very%20fine.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
