%20the%20dough%20onto%20the%20pizza%20pan%20in%20globs%20and%20pieces.%20I%20tried%20to%20roll%20the%20dough%20back%20together%20with%20my%20rolling%20pin,%20which,%20of%20course,%20would%20not%20work%20because%20the%20sides%20of%20the%20pan%20kept%20the%20rolling%20pin%20from%20barely%20touching%20the%20dough.%20I%20decided%20to%20just%20use%20my%20hands%20to%20gently%20manipulate%20the%20dough%20into%20what%20could%20only%20remotely%20resemble%20a%20circle.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20there%20was%20the%20filling%20and%20where%20my%20stupidity%20kicked%20into%20high%20gear.%20The%20recipe%20says,%20%22Spoon%20the%20berries%20into%20the%20center%20of%20the%20pastry,%20leaving%20a%201%201/2%20inch%20border.%22%20Since%20the%20recipe%20didn't%20specifically%20say%20%22drain%20your%20berries,%22%20I%20didn't%20and%20got%20this...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E...at%20which%20point%20I%20was%20nearly%20in%20tears%20and%20ready%20to%20throw%20the%20whole%20thing%20into%20the%20trash.%20Tom,%20bless%20his%20even%20tempered%20heart,%20stepped%20in%20to%20help%20clean%20up%20the%20juice%20that%20had%20spilled%20onto%20the%20pan%20and%20quickly%20fold%20up%20the%20sides%20of%20the%20pastry%20to%20try%20to%20minimize%20the%20damage.%20Even%20so,%20when%20it%20came%20out%20of%20the%20oven,%20it%20was%20not%20pretty.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20galette%20was%20cemented%20to%20the%20pan.%20I%20couldn't%20even%20get%20a%20spatula%20underneath%20it.%20I%20gave%20up%20and%20decided%20it%20was%20time%20to%20take%20a%20break%20and%20left%20the%20kitchen.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20few%20minutes%20later,%20when%20I%20returned%20to%20the%20kitchen,%20the%20galette%20was%20no%20longer%20sitting%20in%20the%20middle%20of%20the%20pizza%20pan%20surrounded%20by%20burnt%20berry%20juice%20and%20sugar.%20Tom%20had%20removed%20the%20galette,%20intact,%20to%20a%20nice%20white%20serving%20plate%20and%20put%20the%20pizza%20pan%20in%20the%20sink%20out%20of%20sight.%20At%20that%20point,%20the%20pastry%20started%20to%20look%20somewhat%20appetizing.%20Imagine%20that.%20The%20moral:%20Presentation%20is%20just%20about%20everything.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd,%20it%20really%20does%20taste%20good.%20So,%20here's%20the%20recipe.%20By%20the%20way,%20I%20WILL%20try%20this%20again.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMixed%20Berry%20Galette%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdapted%20from%20For%20The%20Love%20of%20Cooking%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPastry%20Dough:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20the%20berries%20with%20the%20sugar%20and%20flour%20then%20cover%20and%20set%20aside%20for%20a%20couple%20of%20hours%20so%20they%20thaw.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20oven%20to%20425%20degrees.%20Remove%20the%20pastry%20dough%20from%20the%20refrigerator%20and%20roll%20into%20an%2011%20inch%20circle%20on%20a%20floured%20surface.%20Place%20on%20baking%20sheet.%20Spoon%20the%20berries%20into%20the%20center%20of%20the%20pastry,%20leaving%20a%201%201/2%20inch%20border.%20Carefully%20fold%20the%20border%20of%20the%20pastry%20over%20the%20fruit,%20pleating%20it%20to%20make%20an%20edge.%20Brush%20water%20on%20the%20exposed%20pastry%20and%20add%20a%20bit%20of%20raw%20sugar%20crystals%20(I%20skipped%20this%20part%20because%20I%20just%20wanted%20to%20get%20it%20in%20the%20oven.).%20Top%20the%20fruit%20with%20a%20couple%20of%20pats%20of%20butter.%20Bake%20the%20galette%20for%2025%20minutes%20or%20until%20golden%20brown.%20Remove%20from%20the%20oven%20and%20let%20rest%20for%20a%20few%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPam%20served%20her%20galette%20with%20whipped%20cream.%20I%20had%20a%20little%20low-fat%20ice%20cream%20with%20mine.%20I%20think%20I'll%20have%20it%20again%20tonight,%20too.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
