- In a large bowl, sprinkle yeast over water; stir to dissolve. Add in sugar, salt and large eggs with lowfat milk. Blend with mixer. Add in 4 cups of flour; beat till smooth. Add in shortening, then beat in remaining flour. Cover and refrigerate several hrs. Roll 2 1/2 inch squares about 1/8 inch thick, roll first and then cut the squares. Deep fry at 360 degrees 2 to 3 min (till golden brown on each side). Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar. Yield: 5 dozen.
