,%20so%20it's%20something%20that%20I%20only%20rarely%20indulge%20in%20these%20days.%20I%20love%20this%20recipe%20because%20I%20always,%20always%20have%20what%20I%20need%20to%20make%20it%20in%20the%20cupboard.%20It's%20quick%20and%20it's%20easy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20don't%20have%20to%20use%20white%20cabbage%20all%20the%20time.%20Today%20I%20had%20a%20small%20head%20of%20dark%20Green%20Savoy%20Cabbage%20and%20so%20I%20used%20that.%20I%20just%20cooked%20the%20cabbage%20for%20a%20shorter%20time%20than%20the%20white%20cabbage,%20and%20as%20you%20can%20clearly%20see%20it%20gave%20a%20nice%20bright%20green%20colour%20to%20the%20dish.%20Very%20pretty.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20also%20added%20a%20bit%20of%20zip%20with%20a%20light%20drizzle%20of%20cooks&Co%20Olive%20Oil%20with%20Chillies%20which%20I%20was%20sent%20to%20try%20out%20the%20other%20day.%20(Remember%20the%20grapeseed%20oil%20that%20I%20used%20the%20other%20day%20to%20make%20that%20Treacle%20Gingerbread%20Loaf%20that%20was%20so%20nice??%20Same%20company!)It%20added%20a%20wonderful%20kick%20to%20the%20dish.%20Hot%20chillies%20are%20added%20to%20this%20olive%20oil%20to%20help%20to%20create%20a%20classic%20condiment%20for%20pizza's,%20pasta%20dishes,%20dressings%20sauces%20and%20grilled%20meats.%20I%20really%20thought%20it%20added%20a%20lovely%20depth%20of%20flavour.%20This%20is%20great%20olive%20oil%20.%20.%20.%20and%20a%20little%20drizzle%20goes%20a%20long%20way!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20any%20case,%20Todd%20sat%20there%20enjoying%20his%20ham%20sandwich%20and%20I%20sat%20there%20enjoying%20my%20bowl%20of%20Noodles%20and%20Cabbage.%20Everybody%20was%20content%20and%20happy.%20%E2%98%BA%20Just%20as%20it%20should%20be.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*Noodles%20and%20Cabbage*%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes%204%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20a%20lovely%20dish%20that%20goes%20well%20with%20most%20meats,%20and%20I%20have%20even%20been%20known%20to%20eat%20a%20big%20plate%20of%20it%20all%20on%20it's%20own.%20My%20family%20always%20used%20to%20love%20it%20when%20I%20made%20this.%20I%20most%20often%20use%20flat%20egg%20noodles%20such%20as%20Fettuccini,%20but%20Tagliatele%20and%20Farfelle%20works%20really%20well%20also.%20I%20don't%20think%20that%20it%20is%20suited%20to%20the%20rounder%20types%20of%20pasta.%20You%20can%20top%20it%20with%20sour%20cream%20if%20you%20like,%20but%20we%20have%20always%20loved%20to%20have%20ours%20with%20a%20dusting%20of%20freshly%20grated%20Parmesan%20Cheese.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBring%20a%20large%20pot%20of%20lightly%20salted%20water%20to%20the%20boil.%20Add%20the%20noodles%20and%20cook%20according%20to%20the%20package%20directions.%20When%20done,%20drain%20well,%20rinse%20in%20warm%20water%20and%20then%20keep%20warm%20until%20they%20are%20needed.%20(Tossing%20them%20with%20just%20a%20touch%20of%20vegetable%20oil%20helps%20to%20keep%20them%20from%20sticking%20together.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20a%20large%20skillet%20over%20medium%20high%20heat.%20Add%20the%20butter%20and%20once%20it%20is%20foaming%20add%20the%20onion.%20Cook,%20stirring%20until%20the%20onion%20begins%20to%20soften.%20Add%20the%20cabbage%20and%20sprinkle%20it%20all%20with%20the%20brown%20sugar.%20Cook,%20stirring%20and%20tossing%20until%20the%20cabbage%20begins%20to%20wilt%20and%20brown%20in%20a%20few%20placed,%20and%20the%20onion%20and%20cabbage%20are%20well%20mixed%20together.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETurn%20the%20heat%20to%20low,%20pop%20a%20lid%20on%20top,%20and%20cook%20for%20five%20to%20ten%20minutes,%20giving%20it%20a%20stir%20every%20few%20minutes,%20until%20the%20cabbage%20and%20onion%20are%20nicely%20softened%20and%20beginning%20to%20caramelize%20a%20bit.%20Remove%20the%20lid%20and%20toss%20in%20the%20noodles,%20mixing%20all%20together%20well.%20Heat%20through%20and%20season%20to%20taste%20with%20some%20salt%20and%20black%20pepper.%20Serve%20hot%20with%20a%20dollop%20of%20sour%20cream%20on%20top%20of%20a%20light%20dusting%20of%20Parmesan%20Cheese.%20Delicious!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECooking%20in%20The%20Cottage%20today,%20Cheater's%20Apple%20and%20Cherry%20Crumble.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
