Ingredientes

  • 4 1/2 c. firmly packed light brown sugar (1 box or possibly 2 pound)
  • 1 c. evaporated lowfat milk, undiluted
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 c. minced walnuts (optional)

Direcciones

  1. In a large saucepan, mix sugar, lowfat milk, butter and salt. Cook, stirring till sugar is dissolved. Continue cooking till 238 degrees registers on candy thermometer or possibly till a small amount of mix dropped into cold water forms a soft ball. Remove from heat and let stand till lukewarm, 110 degrees. Add in vanilla and walnuts. Beat till mix is thick and loses its gloss. Pour into buttered 9 inch square pan. When hard, cut into squares. Makes about 3 lb. This is her grandmother's recipe.
