%20with%20the%20skin%20contains%2045%20percent%20of%20the%20daily%20value%20of%20vitamin%20C,%20and%20as%20much%20or%20more%20potassium%20(620%20mg)%20than%20either%20bananas,%20spinach,%20or%20broccoli.%20Unfortunately%20these%20nutritional%20benefits%20are%20often%20overlooked,%20as%20potatoes%20are%20first%20associated%20with%20carbs,%20and%20immediately%20put%20on%20the%20do%20not%20eat%20list.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20town%20for%20the%20Society%20for%20Nutrition%20Education%20Annual%20Conference,%20the%20United%20States%20Potato%20Board%20hosted%20nutritionists%20and%20members%20of%20the%20media%20at%20an%20intimate%20dinner%20at%20Ardeo+Bardeo,%20which%20featured%20a%20custom%20designed%20menu%20incorporating%20the%20seven%20main%20potato%20types%20(russets,%20reds,%20whites,%20yellows,%20purples/blues,%20fingerlings,%20and%20petites).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20between%20bites%20of%20an%20incredibly%20well%20designed%20five%20course%20meal,%20guests%20shared%20their%20love%20for%20potatoes,%20and%20discussed%20the%20current%20myths%20related%20to%20potatoes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThough%20a%20five%20course%20meal%20awaited%20guests,%20we%20were%20still%20met%20with%20several%20passed%20hors%20d'oeuvres.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFirst%20course:%20Russet%20potato%20gnocchi%20and%20spinach%20salad.%20The%20tender%20gnocchi%20was%20a%20great%20introduction%20to%20potato%20that%20evening,%20and%20the%20lightness%20of%20the%20gnocchi%20made%20it%20a%20perfect%20first%20course.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESecond%20Course:%20Smoked%20white%20potato%20mousse,%20egg%2063,%20caviar.%20%20This%20was%20the%20standout%20dish%20of%20the%20night,%20as%20guests%20would%20not%20stop%20raving%20about%20it.%20The%20caviar%20added%20a%20nice%20crunch%20to%20the%20creamy%20potatoes%20and%20eggs.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThird%20Course:%20Red%20and%20purple%20potato%20confit,%20bay%20scallops,%20%22frisee%20aux%20lardons%22.%20This%20dish%20was%20one%20of%20my%20favorites,%20as%20I%20really%20love%20potatoes,%20and%20a%20simple%20sliced%20potato%20is%20enough%20to%20satisfy%20me.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEntree%20Course:%20Filet%20of%20branzino,%20creamy%20russet%20potato%20cake,%20sweet%20onion%20pancetta%20(Guests%20also%20had%20the%20choice%20of%20a%20Barrel%20cut%20rib-eye,%20Yukon%20puree%20and%20royal%20trumpet%20mushrooms%20as%20their%20entree%20course)%20Though%20I'd%20typically%20choose%20red%20meat%20over%20fish%20any%20other%20day,%20I%20ordered%20the%20Filet%20of%20branzino%20dish%20just%20so%20I%20could%20try%20the%20potato%20cake,%20and%20it%20did%20not%20disappoint%20(and%20neither%20did%20the%20fish).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFifth%20course:%20%22Potato%20Split%22%20Roasted%20russet%20potato,%20sour%20cream%20and%20brown%20butter%20ice%20cream,%20maple,%20bacon.%20%20The%20sour%20cream%20flavor%20was%20actually%20my%20favorite%20of%20the%20three%20flavors,%20with%20the%20russet%20potato%20flavor%20being%20my%20least%20favorite,%20as%20it%20was%20a%20little%20too%20grainy%20in%20texture,%20and%20I%20much%20preferred%20the%20creaminess%20of%20the%20sour%20cream%20flavor.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20more%20info%20about%20the%20nutritional%20value%20of%20potatoes,%20and%20for%20a%20nice%20selection%20of%20recipes,%20visit%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlso%20put%20Ardeo%20+%20Bardeo%20on%20your%20list%20of%20places%20to%20hold%20a%20private%20event,%20as%20they%20sure%20know%20how%20to%20customize%20a%20menu!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
