%20keeps%20looping%20around%20in%20my%20mind.%20Especially%20the%20lines%20%22It's%20a%20new%20day...a%20new%20world...a%20new%20start%22.%20Maybe%20because%20this%20is%20my%20first%20proper%20post%20this%20year%20after%20my%20%22new%20year%20wishes%22%20one.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20year,%20several%20things%20are%20new%20for%20me.%20One,%20I've%20changed%20the%20template%20on%20this%20blog...how%20do%20you%20like%20it?%20Two,%20I'm%20typing%20this%20on%20my%20new%20netbook,%20which%20is%20so%20goodlooking%20and%20comfy-to-use%20and%20sleek%20that%20I%20frankly%20can't%20keep%20my%20hands%20off%20of%20it!%20Three,%20I've%20got%20a%20new%20wireless%20internet%20connection.%20Just%20these%20two%20things,%20which%20were%20very%20timely%20%22new%20year%22%20gifts,%20are%20the%20things%20I%20absolutely%20can't%20live%20without-yes,%20a%20computer%20and%20the%20internet!%20So%20now%20hopefully%20I%20can%20blog%20and%20work%20whenever%20and%20wherever%20I%20want%20to%20(subject%20to%20my%20son's%20nap%20and%20sleeptime,%20that%20is!)%20Thanks%20a%20lot%20to%20my%20mom%20and%20dad....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlso,%20in%20a%20previous%20post,%20I%20had%20mentioned%20winning%20the%20giveaway%20hamper%20on%20Katerina's%20blog.%20She%20sent%20the%20hamper%20immediately%20and%20it%20reached%20me%20here%20in%20India,%20all%20the%20way%20from%20Athens,%20in%20just%20under%20a%20week!%20The%20hamper%20was%20not%20only%20thoughtfully%20packed%20with%20wonderful%20little%20Greek%20foodstuffs,%20but%20also%20packed%20in%20a%20lovely%20box%20with%20a%20nice%20bow%20string,%20with%20a%20sweet%20little%20note%20included.%20There%20was%20a%20packet%20of%20organic%20handmade%20pasta%20(made%20in%20a%20200-year-old%20mill),%20a%20pack%20of%20specially%20grown%20Greek%20saffron,%20a%20jar%20of%20organic%20eggplant%20and%20pinenut%20chutney,%20a%20packet%20of%20a%20special%20Greek%20resin%20called%20Mastic%20which%20is%20used%20for%20flavoring,%20and%20a%20pack%20of%20organic%20Greek%20mountain%20tea.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20was%20my%20mom's%20idea%20to%20cook%20the%20pasta%20for%20our%20new%20year%20eve%20dinner%20and%20so%20we%20both%20came%20up%20with%20this%20recipe%20that%20was%20totally%20new%20and%20fresh%20(though%20the%20methods%20may%20not%20be!).%20The%20end%20result%20was%20delicious%20and%20we%20savored%20the%20pasta%20more%20than%20usual,%20coming%20as%20it%20was%20from%20such%20a%20faraway,%20exotic%20land!%20This,%20combined%20with%20the%20delicious%20chutney,%20made%20the%20new%20year%20even%20more%20promising!%20Thank%20you,%20Katerina,%20once%20again,%20for%20everything!%20Now,%20onto%20the%20recipe...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlease%20keep%20in%20mind%20that%20I%20was%20literally%20hamming%20my%20way%20through%20the%20preparation%20of%20this%20dish,%20so%20if%20you're%20going%20to%20try%20it%20out,%20be%20creative%20and%20flexible%20with%20the%20measurements!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20serve%204%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20deep%20pan%20or%20wok,%20heat%20the%20oil%20and%20let%20the%20garlic%20bits%20sizzle%20in%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20onions%20and%20fry%20till%20translucent.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20tip%20in%20the%20prawns%20and%20stir%20fry%20for%20about%205%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECrumble%20the%20chicken%20stock%20cube%20and%20add%20to%20the%20prawns,%20along%20with%20the%20mixed%20dried%20herbs,%20salt,%20and%20lots%20of%20pepper.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELet%20it%20simmer,%20covered%20with%20a%20lid,%20until%20cooked%20and%20tender.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMeanwhile,%20cook%20the%20pasta%20following%20the%20instructions%20on%20your%20packet.%20Drain%20it%20when%20al%20dente%20(a%20little%20undercooked)%20and%20drizzle%20some%20oil%20on%20it%20and%20keep%20aside%20in%20a%20colander.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20that%20is%20done,%20make%20the%20white%20sauce%20(Bechamel)-heat%20up%20a%20saucepan%20with%20the%20butter%20(this%20would%20also%20be%20the%20right%20time%20to%20preheat%20your%20oven%20to%20200%20C).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMaking%20sure%20the%20butter%20does%20not%20burn%20(turn%20the%20flame%20to%20the%20lowest),%20tip%20in%20the%20flour%20and%20stir%20briskly,%20while%20pouring%20in%20the%20milk%20slowly.%20If%20needed,%20take%20the%20saucepan%20off%20the%20flame%20and%20stir%20around%20until%20you%20get%20a%20smooth,%20custard-like%20consistency%20of%20a%20sauce.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESeason%20with%20a%20little%20salt%20(if%20using%20unsalted%20butter)%20and%20pepper%20to%20taste.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20pour%20this%20sauce%20into%20the%20pan%20with%20the%20prawns%20and%20mix%20nicely.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETip%20in%20the%20drained%20pasta%20and%20mix%20again,%20gently.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELastly,%20add%20the%20breadcrumbs%20and%20combine.%20Take%20off%20the%20stove.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20transfer%20this%20to%20the%20baking%20dish%20of%20your%20choice%20and%20put%20it%20into%20the%20oven,%20baking%20until%20it%20turns%20golden%20brown%20and%20bubbling,%20approximately%2015%20to%2020%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServe%20with%20a%20side%20of%20a%20green%20salad%20or%20garlic%20bread%20or%20just%20on%20its%20own!%20Perfect%20with%20a%20glass%20of%20wine%20too.....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETIPS:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20can%20reserve%20some%20of%20the%20water%20drained%20from%20the%20cooked%20pasta%20and%20add%20it%20to%20the%20white%20sauce.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20could%20garnish%20with%20tomato%20slices,%20to%20get%20an%20oven-dried%20tomato%20effect.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlso,%20layering%20the%20top%20with%20cheese%20grated%20or%20cheese%20slices%20will%20be%20simply%20marvellous,%20if%20you're%20not%20going%20to%20be%20counting%20calories%20as%20part%20of%20your%20new%20year%20resolutions!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20am%20linking%20this%20to%20the%20following%20food%20blog%20events:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFamily%20Friendly%20Fridays,%20hosted%20by%20Julie.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
