Located on the Main Street of Monticello, Utah, sits the Peace Tree Juice Cafe. A former residential home, the Cafe is brightly colored with their signature lizard on the front wall. %20587-5063%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWebsite:%20http://www.peacetreecafe.com/%20%20(Main%20focus%20is%20on%20the%20Cafe%20located%20in%20Moab,%20Utah)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELocated%20on%20the%20Main%20Street%20of%20Monticello,%20Utah,%20sits%20the%20Peace%20Tree%20Juice%20Cafe.%20%20A%20former%20residential%20home,%20the%20Cafe%20is%20brightly%20colored%20with%20their%20signature%20lizard%20on%20the%20front%20wall.%20%20There%20is%20another%20Cafe%20located%20in%20Moab%20which%20was%20just%20newly%20renovated%20in%202012;%20the%20Cafe%20in%20Blanding%20closed%20about%20two%20years%20ago,%20so%20that%20location%20should%20be%20removed%20from%20their%20sign.%20Whether%20sitting%20on%20the%20patio%20or%20the%20interior%20dining%20area,%20you%20have%20a%20wonderful%20view%20of%20the%20flowering%20plants%20and%20herbs;%20hummingbird%20feeders%20attract%20the%20aviary%20jets;%20it%20is%20an%20overall%20soothing%20environment.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20hardship%20about%20being%20located%20on%20a%20main%20thoroughfare;%20the%20view%20of%20the%20Abajo%20Mountains%20is%20obstructed%20by%20a%20car%20wash%20and%20Texaco%20station.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDue%20to%20the%20high%20winds%20and%20dark%20clouds%20moving%20in%20from%20the%20mountains,%20we%20thought%20it%20better%20to%20dine%20inside.%20%20The%20dining%20area%20is%20divided%20into%20two%20sections,%20%22The%20Cave%22%20which%20has%20room%20for%20three%20small%20tables;%20and%20the%20main%20area%20which%20is%20roomier%20and%20brighter%20due%20to%20the%20large%20windows.%20%20There%20is%20also%20a%20small%20area%20for%20the%20Cafe's%20shop%20of%20t-shirts,%20postcards,%20mugs%20and%20various%20knick-knacks.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUpon%20entering%20we%20were%20immediately%20asked%20if%20we%20were%20there%20for%20dinner,%20and%20then%20seated%20at%20a%20table%20by%20one%20of%20the%20large%20windows.%20%20The%20waitress%20did%20not%20introduce%20herself,%20and%20I%20only%20recognized%20the%20owner,%20Karen%20Whipple,%20who%20served%20us%20our%20drinks,%20because%20I%20had%20once%20been%20introduced%20to%20her.%20%20Smoothies,%20coffees%20and%20fruit%20juices%20are%20not%20served%20during%20dinner,%20%22It%20is%20too%20busy%20at%20dinner%20time%20to%20make%20them%22,%20I%20was%20told.%20%20Didn't%20make%20much%20sense%20to%20us,%20since%20they%20are%20often%20packed%20for%20lunch,%20yet%20those%20drinks%20are%20available.%20%20They%20would%20have%20made%20a%20better%20profit%20on%20the%20Chai%20Latte%20I%20was%20craving,%20instead%20of%20the%20diet%20Coke%20I%20ended%20up%20with.%20%20They%20do%20serve%20beer%20and%20wine,%20so%20my%20husband%20was%20happy%20with%20his%20bottle%20of%20porter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20both%20ordered%20the%20Fish%20Tacos;%20three%20Tilapia%20fish%20tacos%20on%20your%20choice%20of%20corn%20or%20flour%20tortillas,%20guacamole,%20salsa,%20cilantro%20lime%20dressing%20and%20green%20salad,%20was%20the%20description%20on%20the%20photocopied%20menu.%20%20%20We%20were%20not%20asked%20our%20choice%20of%20tortilla,%20so%20received%20flour%20ones%20on%20both%20orders.%20%20Instead%20of%20green%20salad,%20we%20received%20a%20salad%20of%20corn,%20black%20beans,%20tomatoes%20and%20cilantro%20(fresh,%20but%20cilantro%20was%20the%20only%20seasoning).%20%20Pickled%20purple%20cabbage%20stuffed%20the%20small%20tortillas,%20so%20the%20two%20ounce%20(2%20oz)%20portions%20of%20fish%20were%20overwhelmed.%20%20The%20guacamole%20and%20salsa%20were%20both%20zesty%20and%20helped%20to%20give%20the%20vegetable%20salad%20a%20nice%20zip%20when%20mixed%20together.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20a%20side%20note,%20the%20menu%20states%20that%20all%20dinner%20entrees%20come%20with%20grilled%20vegetables%20and%20a%20choice%20of:%20coleslaw,%20potato%20salad,%20macaroni%20and%20cheese%20or%20a%20dinner%20salad.%20%20We%20received,%20and%20were%20offered,%20none%20of%20those%20items%20(the%20vegetable%20salad%20was%20not%20grilled);%20I%20will%20presume%20that%20there%20was%20a%20lack%20of%20training%20and%20knowledge%20on%20the%20part%20of%20the%20waitress.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20one%20thing%20you%20have%20to%20understand%20is%20that%20Utah%20is%20a%20landlocked%20state,%20so%20fresh%20fish%20is%20not%20going%20to%20be%20available.%20%20It's%20either%20heavily%20packed%20in%20ice%20for%20same%20day%20delivery,%20or%20frozen%20and%20thawed%20out%20for%20use.%20%20The%20fillets%20for%20our%20tacos%20were%20nicely%20browned%20on%20the%20outside,%20cut%20into%203%20portions%20for%20the%203%20tacos;%20however,%20the%20fish%20was%20a%20bit%20on%20the%20dry%20side.%20%20The%20dressing%20from%20the%20pickled%20cabbage%20helped%20add%20the%20needed%20moisture;%20removing%20some%20of%20the%20cabbage%20and%20adding%20the%20vegetable%20salad%20gave%20a%20fish%20taco%20a%20whole%20fresh%20flavoring%20to%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20finished%20out%20our%20meal%20sharing%20a%20slice%20of%20Chef%20Llew's%20cheesecake,%20made%20in%20house,%20creamy,%20yummy%20with%20a%20lemony%20sour%20cream%20topping%20and%20garnished%20with%20fresh%20fruit.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOverall,%20while%20the%20breakfast%20and%20lunch%20items,%20smoothies,%20fruit%20drinks%20and%20coffees%20are%20raved%20about;%20the%20dinner%20menu%20at%20Peace%20Tree%20Juice%20Cafe%20is%20not%20something%20I%20would%20recommend.%20%20The%20lunch%20menu%20is%20offered%20through%20dinner%20time,%20but%20no%20smoothies,%20juices%20or%20coffees%20which%20is%20very%20disappointing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMary%20Cokenour%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
