%20and%20refrigorate.%20This%20is%20a%20double%20batch%20so%20it%20will%20have%20to%20go%20through%20your%20ice%20cream%20maker%20in%20two%20batches.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20cake%20I%20used%20what%20has%20become%20my%20staple%20chocolate%20cake%20recipe...but%20because%20the%20recipe%20is%20so%20huge%20I%20quartered%20it.%20Math%20and%20I%20have%20never%20been%20friends%20and%20fractions%20have%20always%20been%20a%20pain...so%20quartering%20this%20was%20a%20pain.%20And%20also...how%20do%20you%20judge%20.286%20cups%20of%20anything?%20I%20did%20a%20lot%20of%20eye-balling.%20The%20batter%20I%20poured%20into%202%208%20inch%20round%20pans%20instead%20of%20one%20so%20I%20didn't%20have%20to%20try%20to%20slice%20the%20cake%20in%20half.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20key,%20I've%20found,%20to%20an%20ice%20cream%20cake%20is%20a%20spring%20form%20pan.%20An%208%20inch%20cake%20in%20a%209%20inch%20spring%20form%20leaves%20plenty%20of%20room%20for%20ice%20cream.%20And%20of%20course%20you%20can't%20just%20have%20cake%20in%20the%20middle!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20what%20you%20end%20of%20with%20is%20two%20layers%20of%20cake%20with%20hot%20fudge%20and%20Oreo%20cookie%20crumbles%20between%20and%20on%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20I%20put%20on%20the%20second%20layer%20of%20cake,%20hot%20fude,%20and%20cookie%20crumbs%20I%20let%20it%20sit%20in%20the%20freezer%20for%20about%2030%20minutes%20just%20to%20harden%20up%20the%20fudge.%20The%20ice%20cream%20needs%20to%20be%20soft%20and%20fairly%20lump%20free%20before%20going%20on%20the%20cake%20but%20make%20sure%20to%20not%20let%20it%20melt%20completely.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20the%20ice%20craem%20and%20cake%20are%20ready,%20put%20the%20spring%20form%20back%20together,%20pour%20in%20the%20ice%20cream%20making%20sure%20that%20it%20gets%20around%20the%20sides%20of%20the%20cake,%20and%20smooth%20the%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20wanted%20to%20do%20a%20little%20decorating%20of%20course%20so%20I%20broke%20up%20some%20Peanut%20Butter%20Cups%20and%20covered%20the%20top%20of%20the%20cake%20with%20those%20and%20a%20sprinkle%20of%20the%20Oreo%20crumbs.%20Let%20the%20cake%20do%20some%20freezing.%20I'd%20say%20at%20least%20a%20couple%20hours%20if%20not%20overnight.%20When%20I%20make%20these%20it's%20usually%20a%20three%20day%20process.%20But%20when%20it's%20time%20to%20take%20off%20the%20spring%20form%20ring...it%20looks%20great%20and%20tastes%20fantabulous.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
