,%20but%20I%20will%20state%20this:%20Purple%20is%20my%20favorite%20color.%20Now,%20don't%20ask%20me%20to%20specify%20a%20particular%20shade%20of%20purple--that%20ain't%20happening.%20But%20whether%20I'm%20picking%20out%20a%20marker,%20buying%20a%20new%20shirt,%20or%20deciding%20on%20flowers%20for%20our%20wedding,%20purple%20is%20and%20probably%20always%20will%20be%20my%20first%20choice.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20got%20a%20packet%20of%20carnival%20mix%20pepper%20seeds,%20and%20I%20was%20delighted%20when%20the%20first%20color%20that%20emerged%20was%20purple.%20As%20it's%20turning%20out,%20it's%20the%20only%20color%20emerging*,%20but%20that's%20okay%20with%20me.%20I've%20been%20slipping%20the%20purple%20peppers%20into%20everything%20from%20pasta%20salad%20to%20barbecue%20chicken%20pot%20pie,%20and%20I%20finally%20decided%20that%20they%20deserved%20more%20of%20a%20spotlight.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*It%20just%20so%20happens%20that%20I%20just%20reaped%20our%20first%20orange%20pepper,%20thereby%20making%20this%20an%20inaccurate%20statement.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThough%20the%20(homegrown!)%20green%20beans%20are%20the%20major%20component%20of%20this%20dish,%20the%20peppers%20are%20not%20taking%20a%20backseat.%20Their%20color,%20crunch,%20and%20punch%20of%20flavor%20are%20all%20noticeable%20and%20appreciated.%20The%20color%20faded%20a%20bit%20with%20cooking,%20but%20I'm%20still%20absolutely%20delighted%20by%20my%20purple%20peppers!%20Maybe%20I%20can%20convince%20my%20beau%20that%20we%20should%20grow%20an%20entirely%20purple%20garden%20next%20year...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGreen%20Beans%20and%20Purple%20Peppers%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20green%20beans%20in%20boiling%20salted%20water%20to%20cover%203%20to%204%20minutes%20or%20until%20crisp-tender;%20drain%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20oil%20in%20a%20large%20skillet%20over%20medium-high%20heat;%20add%20bell%20pepper%20and%20saut%C3%A9%204%20minutes%20or%20until%20tender.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20green%20beans,%20vinegar,%20sugar,%20basil,%20salt,%20and%20pepper,%20and%20toss%20to%20combine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20for%20a%20minute%20or%20two,%20until%20the%20beans%20are%20warmed%20and%20the%20sauce%20has%20thickened%20a%20bit.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
